Job Description

Guy Carpenter is seeking a talented individual to join their Actuary team in Beijing. This hybrid role requires at least three days a week in the office. The Vice President will provide actuarial and financial modelling consulting services, present technical results, model probability distributions of underwriting results, advise on reinsurance programs, and respond to client queries with innovative solutions. They will also document correspondence and provide technical training.

Must Have:
  • Provide actuarial and financial modelling consulting services to clients and colleagues timely
  • Present technical results in an intelligible way and provide insights to stakeholders
  • Model the probability distributions of the gross/ceded/net underwriting results of an (re)insurance client
  • Utilise cost/benefit analysis to advise brokers and clients “optimal” reinsurance programs based on risk tolerance levels
  • Respond to client queries and concerns, provide innovative but practical solution to clients in a timely manner
  • Document external correspondence and telephone conversations in accordance with GC procedures and Professional Standards
  • Provide technical training to clients and colleagues
  • Qualified or near qualified actuary with at least 8 years of general insurance experience
  • Proficient in English, both verbal and written
  • Excellent communications, presentations and project management skills
  • Strong ability to handle significant workflow through efficient time management
  • Strong ability to identify and solve potential problems in their specialty and develop creative solutions
  • Understanding of the product lines and industry conditions to identify significant considerations that insurers should address in designing their programs
  • Well-versed in office software
