Job Description

NXP Semiconductors is looking for an intern to enhance its robotics infrastructure. The project involves replacing current servo control modules with NXP modules and adding new features. This will involve studying existing servo controllers, performance parameters, and measurement systems. The intern will also study CAN and automotive Ethernet interfaces and investigate servo control options with CAN/Ethernet feedback for controlling a robotic arm. The project requires building the servo system using available components and documenting progress, results, and conclusions in a final report. This internship is conducted on-site at the HighTech Campus in Eindhoven, The Netherlands, providing a stimulating, multidisciplinary environment with access to hardware and software tools.

Job Details

NXP started a business development activity for robotics. Aim is to investigate and promote NXP components and technology for this market.

With this internship project, NXP Semiconductors seeks extension of the robotics infrastructure by adding more components. Robots are built by combining the different modules to a system. These modules are built by different manufacturers. The aim is to replace current servo control modules by NXP modules and add new features to them. Some modules are built together with external compagnies.

This robotics project will be making use of interfaces like CAN and/or automotive ethernet.

Tasks

  • Study current servo controllers.
  • Study performance parameters of servo systems and set up a measurement system.
  • Study CAN and automotive ethernet
  • Study servo control options with CAN/ethernet feedback. Multiple servo’s need to control a robotic arm.
  • Investigate the available components and build the servo system.
  • Document your progress, results and conclusion in a final report.

This project will be carried out on-site at NXP Semiconductors on the HighTech Campus in Eindhoven, The Netherlands, due to the required high-intensity knowledge transfer and supervision, as well as the availability of specific hardware and software tools. Working in this project implies working in a stimulating, multidisciplinary environment at the forefront of technology, with knowledgeable colleagues, and an excellent infrastructure.
