Job Details

We are hiring a Combat Designer to join our Project Baxter team in pre-production. Combat sits at the core of the project, and so you will play an integral key role in defining how the game will be played!

Project Baxter is a 4 player cooperative action game set in the world of Dungeons & Dragons ® . Inspired by our love of tabletop RPGs and built from the ground up in Unreal Engine 5, we will embrace cutting edge technology to create entertaining and emergent gameplay scenarios.

This role is available onsite in Stockholm or remote across France, Spain, Sweden and the UK.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop and balance the player's combat mechanics, weapons and abilities.
  • Drive core combat systems such as camera, control and character!
  • Work closely with other Designers, Animators, Gameplay Programmers, and other teams to prototype and implement combat features.
  • Take designs through a full development cycle from concept to release.
  • Help shape and define our gallery of different enemy types.
  • Use metrics, player feedback, and a multitude of diverse analytics to improve and refine the design.

Requirements:

  • Experience as a Combat Designer on one or multiple titles, preferably on a third-person action game.
  • Shipped at least one AAA game where you were heavily involved in player combat mechanics, including melee, ranged and other abilities.
  • Experienced with visual scripting languages (Blueprint, Node Graphs, and so on).
  • Have a passion for, and a deep understanding of, third-person combat mechanics and have thoroughly played a wide variety of different titles.
  • Like working with hands-on prototypes, documentation and brainstorming.
