The District Sales Manager (DSM) will lead merchant acquisition for Moka and GoPay across the Jabodetabek region, based in South Jakarta and East Jakarta. The role involves team management, engaging with merchant partners to address concerns, tailoring sales strategies, and streamlining operations through automation to enhance daily operations, expand the merchant network, and achieve regional sales targets. Responsibilities include mentoring team members, designing sales strategies, monitoring performance using CRM and data analysis tools, and providing hands-on support during negotiations. The ideal candidate needs at least 2 years of sales leadership experience, excellent negotiation and communication skills, strong leadership, proficiency in CRM systems, and prior startup or tech company experience is a plus. Experience in distribution-centric roles within Prepaid telecom, FMCG, or similar industries with knowledge of Permanent Journey Plans and Route Mapping is also valuable.
Must have:

About the Role:

Based in South Jakarta & East Jakarta, the District Sales Manager (DSM) will lead merchant acquisition initiatives for Moka and GoPay across the Jabodetabek region. With exceptional team management and interpersonal skills, the DSM will deeply engage with merchant partners to address their concerns, tailor sales strategies based on their feedback, and streamline operations through automation. By driving these efforts, the DSM will significantly enhance daily operations, expand the merchant-partner network, and ensure timely achievement of all regional sales targets.

What you will do :

    • Lead, guide, and mentor team members by fostering their growth and enhancing their merchant acquisition skills, enabling them to provide effective solutions that address the pain points of our merchant partners.  
    • Collaborate with the Regional Sales Manager to design and implement robust sales strategies and streamline account management practices.  
    • Monitor team performance and ensure targets are achieved by leveraging tools such as CRM systems, Google Sheets, and Data Studio for data-driven decision-making.  
    • Provide hands-on support to team members during negotiations and assist in addressing challenging questions from potential customers with confidence and clarity. 

What you will need :

    • At least 2 years of experience in sales leadership
    • Excellent negotiation and communication skills to achieve the merchant acquisition targets, and to collaborate with partners and colleagues of all levels
    • Strong leadership experience to lead, mentor, and grow a high-functioning team
    • Good proficiency in using Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems
    • Prior experience working at a startup or tech company is a plus
    • Experience of working in a distribution centric role in Prepaid telecom, FMCG & similar industries with working knowledge of Permanent Journey Plans, Route Mapping, Sector wise & beat wise working
About the Team:

In the Offline Merchants team, we consistently strive to implement solutions that allow our merchant partners in Indonesia (and the greater Southeast Asian region) to sell their products both online and offline. We also work to improve the merchant-partner experience through product innovation and integration with the rest of the Gojek ecosystem.

The Jabodetabek Sales team, part of the larger Commerce Enablement stream, currently comprises 4 Districts with 12 Account Managers and 200 Sales Executives. Our portfolio of products includes merchant-facing solutions that aid our subscribed merchant partners in their sales operations. Southeast Asia is a highly dynamic market, where products have to react promptly to market trends and shifts, and where product managers and business leads need the flexibility to experiment and iterate fast. With that in mind, as the Sales team, we introduce and educate potential customers on how they can benefit by using our products.

One of the biggest obstacles our team has had to overcome is figuring out the most effective way to increase our standing in the market with our Point of Sales solutions. After many weeks of research, collaboration, and trial and error, we figured out that the best way to tackle this issue was to pour a bulk of our effort into acquiring more merchant partners in various industries, leveraging heavily on the Gojek ecosystem as a whole.

We're a highly flexible team with a target-driven mindset. We manage our work hours, so long as we deliver the expected results on time. As a team, we enjoy working at cafes (when it’s safe to do so), learning from and about one another, and having fun all along the way.
