Job Description

This role involves defining, building, and iteratively refining game levels, ensuring high visual quality, playability, and fun in collaboration with visual, design, and coding teams. The Level Designer will take full ownership of levels from paper design through whitebox, scripting, iteration, debugging, and optimization until game release, also participating in Strike Teams and occasionally onboarding new hires.
Good To Have:
  • Prefer experience with different video games engines

Must Have:
  • Define and build game levels

  • Scripting, iteration, debugging, and optimization of levels
  • Participate in dedicated Strike Teams
  • 3+ years professional level design experience
  • Experience with shipped AAA titles
  • Proficiency in level design theory and practice
  • Knowledge of Maya, 3DS Max, or similar 3D software
  • Experience with bug-tracking tools, especially JIRA
  • Ability to process and implement feedback
  • Understanding of game development processes
  • Strong English communication skills

Job Description

  • Blocking and building levels and willingness to repeat them intensively (testing and delivering implementing feedback
  • Collaborate with the visual / meshing department to ensure that the levels are of the highest visual quality, while maintaining gameplay and fun, as well as designer and coder teams, creating maps as fun as they can be and integrating any new features into the built-in levels
  • Full ownership - from paper design, through whitebox phase, scripting, iteration, debugging, optimization - to delivery.
  • Takes part in work of dedicated established Strike Teams
  • Occasionally can onboard newhires

Qualifications

  • Typically 3+ years of professional level design experience
  • Shipped AAA title experience
  • Prefer experience with different video games engines
  • Experience in level design – both practice and theory (landmarks, routes, lines of sight,
  • combat arenas)
  • Knowledge of Maya, 3DS Max or similar 3D package.
  • Familiarity with visual scripting
  • Experience working with bug-tracking tools, preferably JIRA
  • Ability to process, understand and implement feedback
  • General understanding of creative and game development processes
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Open-minded team player attitude
  • Strong work ethic and self-motivated
  • Passionate about playing and making melee-focused videogames
