Job Description

Starbreeze is seeking a Live Product Director for PAYDAY 3 to lead the live service vision and inspire a diverse team. This key leadership role involves defining and driving the product's live service strategy, ensuring high-quality delivery, and collaborating across the studio. The ideal candidate will have extensive product and production experience in a live service environment, demonstrating empathy, adaptability, and accountability.

Must Have:
  • Define and drive PAYDAY 3's live service strategy and goals.
  • Communicate the product vision to development, marketing, executives, and partners.
  • Guide the team to deliver on the vision with high quality.
  • Scope the game to keep it on time, on budget, and high quality.
  • Collaborate with studio leaders to build a high-performing team.
  • Champion best practices for quality, prioritizing player value.
  • Partner with QA to measure product quality at every stage.
  • Partner with Operational Services to align development with commercial timelines.
  • Team up with Data & Insights to define KPIs and drive decisions.
  • Represent the game and franchise in long-term business planning.
  • Build and nurture relationships with external partners.
  • Experience as a product-focused producer in a live service game studio.
  • Experience leading development teams on multiple AA+ PC/console games.
  • Experience leading and inspiring high-performing, quality-focused teams.
  • Excellent communication, multitasking, and scheduling skills.
  • Excellent time management and self-organisation.
  • Solid understanding of game development.
  • Strong working knowledge of at least one bug-tracking software solution.
  • A player-first mentality.

Hi 👋 I’m Luke, Talent Acquisition Manager here at Starbreeze, and I’m looking for a Live Product Director for PAYDAY 3 to join Craig’s Production team here in our crew.

This is a key leadership role to support our long-term commitment to and focus on the project and franchise. You will own and drive the product vision for PAYDAY 3’s live service, whilst inspiring and leading a diverse team. We’re looking for someone with extensive product and production experience in a live service environment, and who can lead by example with empathy, adaptability and accountability.

Please note that this position is based onsite at our office in Stockholm 5 days per week.

What you'll be doing:

  • 🚘 Drive live service: You'll define and drive how PAYDAY 3 functions as a service in line with our franchise strategy and goals. You’ll ensure it is updated as things change; whether it's due to new features, technical challenges, or feedback from stakeholders and players.
  • 📢 Communicate the vision: You'll make sure everyone from the development team and marketing to our executives and external partners understands that vision.
  • 🏃 Guide the team: You'll guide the team to make sure we deliver on that vision with high quality.
  • 🎮 Get involved: You'll work closely with the team to scope the game, keeping it on time, on budget, and high quality.
  • 🤝 Collaborate across the studio: You'll collaborate with leaders across the studio to build and inspire a high-performing team.
  • 🏆 Champion best practices: You'll define and champion the best practices for quality, making sure everything we do prioritizes the overall player value.
  • 🛠️ Partner with QA: You'll partner with our Quality Assurance team to measure the quality of the product at every stage.
  • 🧳 Partner with Operations: You’ll partner with our Operational Services team to ensure development milestones are aligned with marketing and other commercial timelines.
  • 📈 Use data: You'll team up with our Data & Insights team to define key performance indicators and use that data to drive product and development decisions.
  • 🗓️ Talk strategy: You'll represent the game and franchise in long-term business planning and strategy discussions.
  • 🫂 Go external: You'll build and nurture relationships with external partners like platform holders and licensors.

What we're looking for:

  • Experience as a product-focused producer in a game studio in a live service environment.
  • Experience leading development teams on multiple AA+ PC/console games.
  • Experience leading and inspiring high-performing, quality-focused teams.
  • Excellent communication, multitasking, and scheduling skills.
  • Excellent time management and self organisation; you can juggle multiple objectives, assess risks, set priorities, and solve problems all while meeting deadlines.
  • Solid understanding of game development, including team dynamics, common hurdles, game engines, and development milestones.
  • Strong working knowledge of at least one bug-tracking software solution.
  • A player-first mentality.

Bonus points if:

  • You have some hands-on development experience in any area; such as art, design, programming, QA, etc.
  • You have experience developing first-person shooter titles.

Interview Process:

  • 30-minute Google Meet call with a member of our Talent Acquisition team.
  • 1-hour interview with our Head of Production and the General Manager of PAYDAY.
  • 1-hour interview with a Development Director and Production Manager.
