Job Description

Synopsys, Inc. is seeking an R&D Engineer II for its Austin, TX location. This role involves contributing to the development of software products and supporting systems, collaborating with expert professionals to understand customer requirements, and accomplishing development objectives. Responsibilities include performing moderately complex development activities such as design, implementation, maintenance, testing, and documentation of software modules and sub-systems, adhering to best practices, verifying bugs, conducting release testing, and providing beta support. The engineer will research and develop solutions for issues identified by QA or product support, and understand marketing requirements, including target environments, performance criteria, and competitive landscape. The position works under general supervision.
Must have:
  • Master's degree in relevant field or Bachelor's with 2 years experience
  • Experience with Finite Element simulation (Ansys)
  • CAD modeling and meshing techniques
  • C++, Python, object-oriented design
  • Data structures and algorithms
  • Front-end UI and web-app development
  • OpenGL and CUDA experience

SUMMARY

ANSYS, Inc. seeks R&D Engineer II to work in Austin, TX

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • The R&D Engineer II contributes to the development of software products and supporting systems.
  • In this role, the R&D Engineer II will collaborate with a team of expert professionals to understand customer requirements and accomplish development objectives.
  • Performs moderately complex development activities, including the design, implementation, maintenance, testing and documentation of software modules and sub-systems.
  • Understands and employs best practices.
  • Performs moderately complex bug verification, release testing and beta support for assigned products.
  • Research problems discovered by QA or product support and develops solutions.
  • Understands the marketing requirements for a product, including target environment, performance criteria and competitive issues.
  • Works under the general supervision of a development manager.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Applied Optics, Manufacturing Systems Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field of study.
  • Alternate Acceptable Education and Work Experience Requirement: Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Applied Optics, Manufacturing Systems Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field of study, and two (2) years of experience in a related position.
  • Work experience or academic coursework must have included:
  • Experience with Finite Element simulation including Ansys, and CAD modeling and advance meshing techniques; 
  • Experience with C++, Python, object-oriented design, data structures, algorithms and front-end UI and web-app;
  • Experience with OpenGL and CUDA
  • Additional work location information: May permit telecommuting from home office within commuting distance to Austin, TX. In office 3 days a week.
