Job Description

DNEG is seeking a skilled and experienced Rigging Developer to join their rigging department. The candidate will be responsible for developing, enhancing, and creating new workflow tools and rigging modules. They will also troubleshoot and support the team. This role involves designing, building, and supporting tools related to character rigging and collaborating with other departments. The candidate will also organize training sessions for the rigging team, ensuring that the team is well-trained and that documentation is up-to-date.
Must have:
  • Experience as a Character Technical Director (5+ years).
  • Experience in software development (2+ years).
  • Experience with Maya API.
  • Strong Python software development.
Good to have:
  • Experience in Ziva + Bifrost.
  • Experience with other third-party DCC applications like Houdini or Blender.
  • Experience with C++ software development.
  • Experience with USD.
  • Experience in Unreal Engine 5.

DNEG, un studio très réputé spécialisé dans l'animation et les effets visuels (VFX), est à la recherche d'un développeur de rigging compétent et expérimenté, passionné par la résolution de problèmes techniques, pour rejoindre son département rigging. Le candidat idéal pour ce poste possèdera une riche expérience de travail au sein des studios d'animation ou de VFX et une compréhension approfondie des flux de travail et des techniques de gréement. En tant que candidat retenu, vous serez responsable du développement, de l'amélioration et de la création de nouveaux outils de flux de travail et de modules de gréement. Vous serez également responsable des tâches de dépannage et du soutien à l'équipe. Vous organiserez également des sessions de formation pour l'équipe de gréement, en veillant à ce que l'équipe soit bien formée et que la documentation soit à jour.
Responsabilités principales:
  • Travailler avec la direction de l'émission pour concevoir, construire et soutenir les outils et techniques nouveaux et existants liés au truquage des personnages, aux foules et aux flux de travail CFX.
  • Interagir étroitement avec les artistes gréeurs pour les aider à améliorer leurs flux de travail.
  • Développer des solutions propres, maintenables et documentées.
  • Collaborer avec d'autres départements sur tous les flux de travail liés aux personnages afin de s'assurer que les données entrent et sortent du département rigging de manière correcte et efficace.
Exigences:
  • Linear Algebra 
  • Licence en informatique ou dans un domaine similaire.
  • Plus de cinq ans d'expérience en tant que directeur technique de caractère.
  • Plus de deux ans d'expérience dans le développement de logiciels.
  • Expérience de l'API Maya.
  • Maîtrise du développement de logiciels en Python.
  • Expérience de logiciels orientés objet.
Atouts
  • Experience in Ziva + Bifrost
  • Maîtrise ou diplôme supérieur en informatique ou dans un domaine similaire.
  • Expérience avec d'autres applications DCC tierces utilisées en VFX et animation, telles que Houdini ou Blender.
  • Expérience du développement de logiciels en C++.
  • Expérience de l'USD et de son utilisation dans les pipelines de production de longs métrages.
  • Expérience d'Unreal Engine 5.

Job Description / Key Purpose of the Job: 
DNEG, a highly regarded studio specialising in animation and visual effects (VFX), seeks a skilled and experienced Rigging Developer with a strong passion for technical problem-solving to join their rigging department. The ideal candidate for this position will possess a wealth of experience working within Animation or VFX studios and a thorough understanding of rigging workflows and techniques. As the successful candidate, you will be responsible for developing, enhancing, and creating new workflow tools and rigging modules. You will also be accountable for tackling troubleshooting tasks and supporting the team. You will also organize training sessions for the rigging team, ensuring that the team is well-trained and that documentation is up-to-date.
Key Responsibilities / Job Duties
  • Work with show leadership to design, build, and support new and existing tools and techniques related to character rigging, crowds, and CFX workflows.
  • Closely interact with rigging artists to help improve their workflows.
  • Develop clean, maintainable, and documented solutions.
  • Collaborate with other departments on all character-related workflows to ensure data flows in and out of the rigging department correctly and efficiently.
Job Requirements / Must Haves
  • Linear Algebra
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
  • Five-plus years of experience as a Character Technical Director
  • Two-plus years of experience in software development
  • Experience with Maya API
  • Strong Python software development
  • Experience with object-oriented software design
  • Development experience and ability to work closely with end-users
  • Attention to detail and strong communication skills
  • Experience in problem-solving and balancing quick turnaround with long-term quality
Additional Skills / Nice to Have
  • Experience in Ziva + Bifrost
  • Master's degree or higher in Computer Science or related field
  • Experience with other third-party DCC applications used in VFX and Animation, such as Houdini or Blender
  • Experience with C++ software development
