Job Description
PhantomFX is looking for a talented Mid-Rigging Artist to join their creative team. The ideal candidate will design and develop production-ready rigs for characters, creatures, and props, ensuring they are animator-friendly and optimized for performance. This is a 3-month contract position based in Chennai (WFO), requiring immediate joiners. The artist will collaborate closely with animators, modelers, and technical artists to maintain high-quality standards while meeting production deadlines.
Must Have:
- Design and create robust rigs for characters, creatures, and props.
- Collaborate with animators and technical artists.
- Troubleshoot rigging issues and optimize rigs for performance.
- Execute facial rigging, skinning, and weight painting.
- Develop and maintain tools and scripts (Python, MEL).
- Minimum 3+ years of professional rigging experience.
- Proficiency in Maya, Houdini, Blender, or other 3D software.
- Strong knowledge of skinning, weight painting, deformation techniques, and rig optimization.
- Experience in facial rigging and complex character/creature rigs.
- Ability to script (Python, MEL) to automate rigging processes.
- Strong problem-solving and debugging skills.

- Troubleshoot rigging issues, provide efficient solutions, and optimize rigs for performance.
- Execute facial rigging, skinning, and weight painting to deliver smooth deformations.
- Develop and maintain tools and scripts (Python, MEL, etc.) to streamline rigging workflows.
- Maintain efficiency, quality, and animator usability across rigs.
- Deliver rigs on schedule while ensuring production readiness and high standards.
