Job Description

Highdive is currently in search of a dynamic Technical Animator who will bring a wealth of experience and a drive for collaboration in advancing animation systems. In this role, you'll be utilizing UE5 and DCC to streamline workflows, empowering animators to meet high animation standards while also enhancing gameplay responsiveness and character behaviors. This person will also collaborate with the Character TD on pipeline and tool development for an unannounced title, requiring strong Maya rigging/setup skills and an understanding of anatomy and realistic deformation to create compelling stylized characters.
Must Have:
  • Set up and maintain character rigs and systems (humans, animals, creatures).
  • Collaborate with art and animation teams to develop models and artist-friendly rigs.
  • Support the animation team with technical animation issues.
  • Problem solve in-game animation implementation issues.
  • Improve animation pipeline and optimize technical processes.
  • Develop new techniques for visual aesthetic goals.
  • Design and set up character dynamics (cloth, hair).
  • Create tools to streamline workflow and pipeline.
  • Provide and maintain technical documentation.
  • Experience designing character pipelines with Maya and Unreal.
  • Experience creating modular and flexible rigging systems for varied character types.
  • In-depth knowledge of character rigging techniques and principles.
  • Ability to create appealing skin deformations.
  • Experience creating/modifying auto-rigging and skinning tools.
  • Strong Python and Maya scripting proficiency.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills.

Technical Animator - Rigging

Highdive is currently in search of a dynamic Technical Animator who will brings a wealth of experience and a drive for collaboration in advancing animation systems.

In this role, you'll be utilizing UE5 and DCC to streamline workflows, empowering animators to meet our high animation standards while also enhancing gameplay responsiveness and character behaviors. Also, this person will collaborate with the Character TD on pipeline and tool development on an unannounced title. This role requires strong Maya rigging/setup skills as well as understanding of anatomy and realistic deformation to create compelling stylized characters.

Effective communication and a penchant for teamwork are essential for excelling in this position.

Responsibilities:

  • Set up and maintain character (humans, animals, creatures) rigs and systems.
  • Collaborate with the art team to develop models that meet technical requirements.
  • Collaborate with animation group to create artist-friendly rigs that satisfy animation/gameplay needs.
  • Support the animation team with any technical animation issues they may have.
  • Problem solving in-game animation implementation issues.
  • Look for opportunities to improve our animation pipeline and provide solutions for technical animation efficiencies and issues.
  • Develop new techniques and processes to further push visual aesthetic goals.
  • Design and set up character dynamics (i.e. cloth, hair)
  • Create tools to streamline workflow/pipeline.
  • Provide and maintain technical documentation.
  • Be a positive and creative force in the team, working in a manner that supports and encourages a diverse and inclusive culture.

Qualifications:

  • Experience designing character pipelines with Maya and Unreal
  • Experience creating modular and flexible systems for a large number of varied character types
  • Experience creating efficient tools that can adapt with project needs.
  • In-depth knowledge of character rigging techniques and principles
  • Ability to create appealing skin deformations.
  • Experience creating/modifying auto-rigging and skinning tools.
  • Strong Python and Maya scripting proficiency
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to find pragmatic solutions.
  • Proven ability to be self-sufficient and take initiative to seek answers and address issues.
