Job Summary

Asobo Studio, with over 20 years of experience and 25 games, is looking for an experienced and ambitious Rigger for an unannounced narrative game. The role involves rigging and skinning animatable elements, working on dynamics, creating controllers, and adapting rigs to game engine constraints. The Rigger will join a team of 4 Technical Animators, collaborating closely with animation, art, and cinematic departments, and will have significant autonomy.

Must Have

  • Skin animatable elements: living beings, objects, vehicles
  • Work on element dynamics: clothes, characters, props
  • Create controllers for animating elements
  • Adapt rigs to game engine constraints while ensuring quality
  • Training in 3D animation, computer graphics or equivalent
  • Initial experience in rigging and skinning for video games, cinema, or animation
  • Sensitivity for animation and tools, with an understanding of their operation and uses
  • Good command of Maya
  • Knowledge of a scripting language (ideally Python)
  • Experience in developing a variety of rigs
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with an ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams

Good to Have

  • Experience with Unreal Engine or Unity engine
  • Comfortable with 3Dsmax and Motion Builder
  • Proficient in Houdini software

In a human-sized team, you will have the opportunity to take on responsibilities, work with great autonomy, in close collaboration with the Animation and Art departments, and contribute directly to the development of the studio's new narrative game.

The team

Under the supervision of Teppei, Animation Director, you will join a team composed of 4 Technical Animators. You will work in collaboration with the animation, art, and cinematic teams. Your role is to rig and skin the animatable elements of the game.

The missions

  • You will be responsible for skinning animatable elements: living beings, objects, vehicles
  • You will work on the dynamics of elements: clothes, characters, props
  • You will create controllers to animate elements
  • You will adapt rigs to game engine constraints, while guaranteeing the expected level of quality

The fundamentals for success in this role

  • You have a background in 3D animation, computer graphics or equivalent
  • You have initial experience in rigging and skinning, for video games, cinema, or animation
  • You have a sensitivity for animation and tools, with an understanding of their operation and uses
  • You have a good command of Maya
  • You know a scripting language (ideally Python)
  • You have experience in developing a variety of rigs
  • You have excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with an ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.

The little extras to be even more comfortable

  • You have already worked in an Unreal Engine or Unity engine
  • You are comfortable with 3Dsmax and Motion Builder
  • You are proficient in Houdini software
