The Team
You'll be joining the central Art team which supports the feature teams with props, materials, character models, animations, and VFX. Your team also supports the UX/UI team with any help they may need. Finally, the central Art team prepares, coordinates, and reviews incoming assets from our outsourcing partners
Desirable skills and knowledge
- At least 5 years of relevant work experience
- Proven expertise in character sculpting, modeling, PBR texturing, and material authoring, with a strong portfolio showcasing a range of characters
- Ability to be receptive to feedback from art director and project art leads
- Proficient with industry-standard packages such as 3dsmax or Maya, Substance Painter, Zbrush, and Marvelous Designer
- Solid understanding of character topology, and the ability to make well-optimized and animation-friendly meshes
- Strong understanding of the artistic fundamentals that serve as the pillars of visually appealing characters
- Experience working with technical art budgets
- Proactive mentality
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Ability to work autonomously and with little supervision
Additional, not essential
- Experience with unreal engine
- Experience with modular clothing systems
- Advanced knowledge of AAA hair authoring workflows
- Portfolio examples of historical/fantasy characters
- Experience with procedural workflows
- Shader knowledge is also a plus
Role responsibilities
- Create new assets while following technical and artistic direction to ensure the end product is of high quality and shippable
- Help establish pipelines to achieve next-gen fidelity characters and boost efficiency in production
- Help with technical setup of materials, pipelines, and workflows
- Update existing assets for new platforms and technology
- Fix graphical bugs and also help with the optimization of assets
- Mentor other artists and give feedback
- Conduct peer reviews of assets to offload lead artist and art director
