Job Description

Define and build levels, collaborating with art, design, and code teams to ensure visual quality, gameplay, and integration of new features. Take full ownership from paper design to shipping, including scripting, iteration, debugging, and optimization. Manage strike teams, fix bugs, share knowledge, and occasionally assist with recruitment and onboarding.

  • Blocking out and building levels, iterating intensively (playtesting and implementing feedback)
  • Collaborating with art, design, and code teams for visual quality, gameplay, and feature integration
  • Full ownership from paper design through whitebox, scripting, iteration, debugging, and optimization until game ships
  • Manage or supervise work of established Strike Teams
  • Bugfixing and describing case studies in knowledge base
  • Sharing knowledge with less experienced peers

Job Description

  • Blocking out and building levels as well as heavy iterating on them (playtesting and providing implementing feedback)
  • Collaborating with the art department to ensure that the levels are of the highest visual quality while retaining gameplay and fun as well as design and code teams on making maps as fun as they can be and integrating any new features into the built-in levels
  • Full ownership - from the paper design, through the whitebox phase, scripting, iteration, debugging, optimization - until the game ships.
  • Manage or supervise work of established Strike Teams
  • Bugfixing and describing case studies in knowledge base
  • Sharing knowledge with less experienced peers
  • Occasionally support recruitment projects with HR collaboration
  • Occasionally can onboard newhires

Qualifications

  • Typically 5+ years of professional level design experience
  • Typically at least one successful shipped AAA title on PC or console
  • Experience in level design – both practice and theory (landmarks, routes, lines of sight, combat arenas)
  • Some knowledge of Maya, 3DS Max or similar 3D package.
  • Ability to process, understand and implement feedback
  • Great understanding of creative and game development processes
  • Experience with different video games engines
  • Familiarity with visual scripting
  • Proficiency with Atlassian software (JIRA, Confluence)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Open-minded team player attitude
  • Strong work ethic and self-motivated
