Job Description

Illumina is seeking a Sr Staff Software Technical Product Manager Oncology to expand access to genomic technology and improve health equity. The role involves identifying customer problems, defining product strategy and roadmaps, and leading multidisciplinary teams to translate operational needs into system requirements. Responsibilities include leading use case development, requirements elicitation, and producing software requirements specifications within an Agile Scrum process. The candidate will also define product priorities, create documentation, and collaborate with development and marketing teams on system design and user experience. This role requires strong analytical and communication skills, knowledge of genomics analysis software and cloud platforms, and experience managing complex projects.

Job Details

Responsibilities:

  • Identify critical customer problems, user needs, and potential solution concepts
  • Work with product marketing to define long term strategy of the product and product road map
  • Lead a multidisciplinary team in transforming an operational/customer need into a description of system parameters/requirements
  • Lead use case development, requirements elicitation and analysis sessions and produce software requirements specification artifacts in an Agile Scrum process
  • Review, validate and baseline requirements with stakeholders and the Software Development team
  • Define product development priorities and communicate product requirements with the development team, marketing, and customers
  • Provide input for marketing collateral development
  • Write software requirements specifications and software documentation for internal and external audiences, including how-to guides, cookbooks, reference material, technical overviews, architecture overviews, blog posts etc
  • Ability to create useful, high-quality diagrams, process flow and mock-ups to facilitate system design, specification, and knowledge transfer
  • Collaborate with development teams and marketing to design user friendly systems architected to meet scalability and uptime requirements
  • Work with System Architect & Software Development teams on overall system design to meet requirements
  • Assisting in the management of collaborative partnership relationships as needed
  • Assist in product-related support, feedback and inquiries from users
  • Provide holistic product leadership and facilitate cross-disciplinary communication
  • Provide technical leadership for product development through use of broad technical expertise, leadership skills, and development process knowledge
  • Collaborate with Project Management to create and track product development progress

Requirements:

  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in requirements gathering, development & scrum product owner role
  • Knowledge of the full software development life cycle
  • Knowledge of genomics analysis software and pipeline creation
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms for genomics data analysis
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and multi-disciplinary teams in a complex fast paced environment
  • Knowledge of user experience design in developing software solutions with exceptional usability
  • Prior programming experience a plus
  • Experience working in an ISO:13485 or FDA regulated (QSR) environment is a plus

Education:

  • Typically requires a minimum of 12 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 8 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 5 years of experience; or equivalent experience.

The estimated base salary range for the Sr Staff Software Technical Product Manager Oncology role based in the United States of America is: $152,600 - $228,800. Should the level or location of the role change during the hiring process, the applicable base pay range may be updated accordingly. Compensation decisions are dependent on several factors including, but not limited to, an individual’s qualifications, location where the role is to be performed, internal equity, and alignment with market data. Additionally, all employees are eligible for one of our variable cash programs (bonus or commission) and eligible roles may receive equity as part of the compensation package.
