Requirements and responsibilities
We are looking for an experienced Senior Snowflake Engineer to lead environment configuration and data platform readiness as part of a high-impact FISERV database migration project in the retail banking sector. This role focuses on architecting and securing Snowflake environments, enabling cross-organization collaboration, and ensuring a smooth transition of ownership from project to operations.
The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in Snowflake setup, access control, and cloud security, with a strong understanding of data infrastructure within regulated financial institutions. You will play a key role in establishing a secure, scalable Snowflake environment that enables seamless data migration, testing, and production deployment.
What you’ll do
- Design, configure, and deploy Snowflake environments to support the ingestion and migration of data from FISERV systems into the enterprise data platform.
- Establish and manage secure access controls, role hierarchies, and permission structures for users across multiple organizations, ensuring strict adherence to compliance and audit requirements.
- Partner with infrastructure, security, and enterprise architecture teams to ensure proper network access, encryption, and audit logging are implemented within the Snowflake environment.
- Lead the transition of Snowflake ownership post-UAT, including knowledge transfer, documentation, and environment hardening for operational readiness.
- Support UAT efforts by diagnosing and resolving environment or access-related issues promptly.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of configurations, access control models, and system dependencies.
- Apply best practices in Snowflake security, cost optimization, performance tuning, and cloud data architecture to drive platform stability and efficiency.
- Act as a technical liaison between engineering, compliance, and external vendors to align requirements and ensure delivery.
What you’ll bring
- 5+ years of experience in cloud data engineering, with at least 2 years of hands-on Snowflake administration and engineering.
- Proven experience in designing and configuring enterprise Snowflake environments, including user/role/access strategies, warehouse sizing, and object-level security.
- Strong command of SQL and Snowflake-specific functions (e.g., Streams, Tasks, Resource Monitors).
- Familiarity with data migrations involving third-party vendors, such as FISERV, and data integration best practices.
- Experience working in or supporting retail banking environments, especially with regulated data.
- Demonstrated ability to lead technical workstreams, manage hand-offs, and collaborate across infrastructure, security, and compliance teams.
- Deep understanding of data governance, auditability, and regulatory requirements in cloud data platforms.
Other preferred qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Master’s degree or certifications in cloud data architecture or security is a plus.
- Experience with financial services data related to core banking, digital payments, or customer onboarding.
- Familiarity with CI/CD for data pipelines, scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash), and infrastructure as code tools (e.g., Terraform).
- Snowflake certification (e.g., SnowPro Core or Advanced Architect).
- Prior experience in post-UAT production support transitions and operational readiness planning.
