Software Engineer

Onward Search is a specialized staffing and talent solutions company that helps professionals find top jobs with the nation’s leading brands. We’re looking to hire a Software Engineer for a e-commerce retail brand.

As a Software Engineer, you will contribute to the design, development, testing, and deployment of React-based UI frameworks and backend systems. You’ll also participate in on-call support, helping ensure reliability and performance across critical applications. This is a 6+ month contract opportunity. The role is fully remote.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and develop scalable, resilient UI components using ReactJS and modern front-end technologies.

• Collaborate on architecture and code reviews to ensure high-quality code standards.

• Actively engage in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, grooming, demos, and retrospectives.

• Contribute to service and data architecture, infrastructure as code, deployment pipelines, and cloud-based solutions.

• Develop and integrate APIs using ReactJS and Java.

• Provide on-call support, troubleshoot production issues, and contribute to operational excellence.

• Own components across the tech stack, managing both development and operational aspects.

• Drive innovation through rapid prototyping and iterative improvements.

• Analyze and debug issues within services and the broader tech ecosystem.

• Spend a majority of your time in hands-on development and problem-solving.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience.

• 4+ years of experience with front-end technologies.

• Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience with ReactJS.

• At least 1 year of experience in backend development using Java and Spring Boot.

• Strong foundation in computer science principles including object-oriented design, data structures, algorithms, and complexity analysis.

• Experience with the full software development lifecycle, from design and development to testing, deployment, and operations.

• Familiarity with design patterns and a strong analytical mindset.

• Experience in building, deploying, and maintaining features in a production environment.

• Willingness and ability to learn domain-specific knowledge in the e-commerce or subscription services space.
