Job Summary
CPP Investments is seeking an Analyst for the Investment Engineering & Analytics (IEA) group within the Capital Markets and Factor Investing (CMF) department for a 12-month contract. The IEA group develops and manages a data and analytics ecosystem for CMF strategies. The Analyst will contribute to the development of a quantitative investment platform, partner with colleagues to deliver solutions, participate in daily operations, and innovate processes, all while being mentored by senior team members. This role is ideal for recent graduates with a STEM or business degree and an interest in finance and technology.
Must Have
- Contribute to the development of a quantitative investment platform with a focus on volatility and risk premia strategies
- Partner with colleagues across the department to understand business needs to deliver creative solutions in a timely manner
- Participate in the daily operation of the investment platform to meet investment needs
- Continually look for ways to innovate and improve all aspects of our process
- Graduating from an undergraduate or graduate program in April 2025 (or later)
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, economics, computer science, mathematics, or finance
- Proficiency in at least one programming language and familiar with Python
- Love to learn new skills, passionate about technology
- Interest in computing, finance, mathematics, or related fields
- Familiarity with or interest in systematic investing, derivatives, and modern portfolio theory
- Strong interpersonal skills and effective verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills

Job Description
The Investment Engineering & Analytics group (IEA) within the Capital Markets and Factor Investing (CMF) department for a 12-month contract. The IEA group develops and manages a data and analytics ecosystem for CMF strategies covering a wide range of asset classes. The ecosystem includes foundational data sets, investment signal construction processes, analytical libraries, and tools for constructing and analyzing portfolios.
We are recruiting for an Analyst in the IEA team. In partnership with a diverse team of professionals, IEA seeks to ensure CMF has the analytical tools and robust infrastructure required to support its portfolio management and research activities.
As an Analyst in IEA you will:
- Contribute to the development of a quantitative investment platform with a focus on volatility and risk premia strategies
- Partner with colleagues across the department to understand business needs to deliver creative solutions in a timely manner
- Participate in the daily operation of the investment platform to meet investment needs
- Continually look for ways to innovate and improve all aspects of our process
- Be mentored by senior members of the IEA team who will assist with your growth and development
Qualifications
- The ideal candidate will be graduating from an undergraduate or graduate program in April 2025 (or later) and is working towards a degree in a STEM or business field.
- You have a bachelor's degree in engineering, economics, computer science, mathematics, or finance; a master's degree in financial engineering or mathematical finance is an asset.
- You have proficiency in at least one programming language and are familiar with Python
- You love to learn new skills, are passionate about technology
- You have an interest in computing, finance, mathematics, or related fields
- You are familiar with or have an interest in systematic investing, derivatives, and modern portfolio theory
- You take pride in your strong interpersonal skills as well as your effective verbal and written communication skills
- You excel at problem solving and enjoy using analytical skills to devise creative solutions to those problems
