Job Summary

As a Firmware Staff Engineer RD at Infineon, you will be responsible for architecting, designing, and developing embedded firmware for automotive Ethernet switches, ensuring high performance, stability, and maintainability. Your role involves interpreting hardware specifications, integrating customer use cases, and debugging at both hardware and timing layers. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve technical issues and contribute to design and code reviews, ensuring compliance with safety standards like ISO26262 and ASIL. This position requires expertise in C, C++, shell scripting, and a strong understanding of embedded systems and automotive safety.

Must Have

  • Architect, design, and develop embedded firmware for automotive Ethernet switches.
  • Interpret hardware specs and architectural design documents to translate requirements into robust, production-ready code.
  • Integrate customer use cases into firmware design, proactively identifying and resolving critical technical issues.
  • Debug at the hardware and timing layer using industry-leading tools (GDB, JTAG, Trace32, Lauterbach).
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to analyze customer challenges, prioritize solutions, and deliver seamless integration.
  • Contribute to design reviews, code reviews, and test plans to ensure adherence to safety standards such as ISO26262 and ASIL compliance.
  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
  • 5–7 years of experience in embedded firmware development.
  • Expertise in C, C++, and shell scripting, with a strong grasp of Linux-based environments.
  • Proven debugging skills at both the hardware layer and timing analysis level.
  • Demonstrated experience in embedded firmware architecture and firmware safety design principles.
  • Understanding of electrical schematics, datasheets, and timing diagrams.
  • Knowledge of Layer 2 protocols (PTP, TSN, MKA) and familiarity with MACsec.
  • Experience with automotive safety frameworks like ISO26262 and ASIL levels.
  • Clear, fluent communication in English and strong collaboration skills.

Your Profile

We are looking for a seasoned engineer who thrives in tackling complex firmware challenges and is ready to drive innovation in the world of embedded systems, real-time operating environments, and automotive safety standards.

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field
  • 5–7 years of experience in embedded firmware development
  • Expertise in C, C++, and shell scripting, with a strong grasp of Linux-based environments
  • Proven debugging skills at both the hardware layer and timing analysis level
  • Demonstrated experience in embedded firmware architecture and firmware safety design principles (fail-safe states, isolation, redundancy, error monitoring and memory management). Identify failure modes and perform mitigation strategies
  • Understanding of electrical schematics, datasheets, and timing diagrams and knowledge of Layer 2 protocols (PTP, TSN, MKA) and familiarity with MACsec. Experience with automotive safety frameworks like ISO26262 and ASIL levels
  • Clear, fluent communication in English and strong collaboration skills
