Azure VMware Solution (AVS) Architect

We are looking for a highly skilled Azure VMware Solution (AVS) Architect with a strong background in VMware technologies and Azure cloud services. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in architecting, deploying, and migrating enterprise-grade solutions from on-premises VMware environments to Azure using AVS. This role requires strategic technical leadership, customer engagement, and hands-on design and delivery experience.

Must Have

• Plan, architect, and lead complex AVS infrastructure deployments and cloud migrations.
• Define technical requirements and strategy for AVS adoption with customers.
• Architect and implement AVS-based solutions integrating VMware and Azure technologies.
• Act as a subject matter expert for AVS and VMware platforms.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of AVS, VMware, and Azure ecosystems.
• Create technical documentation and contribute to knowledge-sharing initiatives.
• 12+ years of IT experience, with 3+ years in AVS and 5+ years in VMware vSphere and cloud migration projects.
• Strong experience with on-premises to Azure AVS migrations using VMware HCX.
• Proven ability to design data center and cloud infrastructure using VMware and Microsoft technologies.
• Expertise in VMware vSphere 6.0+, VMware NSX-T, VMware vSAN, and VMware HCX.
• Proficiency in Azure ExpressRoute, Azure VPN, Azure Virtual WAN, and Azure Route Server.

Good to Have

• Experience with Site Recovery Manager & vSphere Replication.
• Familiarity with VMware management tools (vCD, vROps, vRNI, vRLI).
• Knowledge of Azure Disk Pools, Azure NetApp Files, Azure Monitor, Azure Arc, Security Center.
• Experience with third-party virtual appliances (e.g., firewalls, load balancers).
• Strong understanding of cloud security, compliance, high availability, monitoring, and backup strategies.
• Familiarity with cloud management platforms and infrastructure-as-code concepts.
• Solid understanding of datacenter network architecture (Layer 2/3).
• Excellent presentation, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Experience supporting enterprise customers with Azure-based solutions.
• Preferred Certifications: VCDX-DCV/CMA, CCDP, CCNP, VCP-NV.

Key Responsibilities

• Partner with program managers and delivery teams to plan, architect, and lead complex AVS infrastructure deployments and cloud migrations.

• Work closely with customers to define technical requirements, strategy, and processes for seamless AVS adoption.

• Architect and implement AVS-based solutions integrating VMware and Azure technologies.

• Act as a subject matter expert for AVS and VMware platforms, providing guidance and training to internal teams.

• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of AVS, VMware, and Azure ecosystems to design forward-thinking, scalable solutions.

• Create and share technical documentation, build automated self-help tools, and contribute to knowledge-sharing initiatives.

Required Qualifications & Experience

• 12+ years of IT experience with a minimum of:

• 3+ years in Azure VMware Solution (AVS)

• 5+ years in VMware vSphere and cloud migration projects

• Strong experience with on-premises to Azure AVS migrations using VMware HCX.

• Proven ability to design data center and cloud infrastructure using VMware and Microsoft technologies.

Technical Expertise

VMware Technologies (Required):

• VMware vSphere 6.0+

• VMware NSX-T (Edge Services, Distributed Firewall, NSX-V to NSX-T migration)

• VMware vSAN

• VMware HCX (Advanced & Enterprise)

VMware Technologies (Preferred):
