Job Summary
Frontier is seeking a part-time Catering Assistant for their studio in Cambridge, UK. This role is crucial for the efficient operation of The Space Bar, the staff restaurant. Responsibilities include front and back of house duties, serving customers, operating the till, assisting with food preparation (peeling, trimming, washing), making sandwiches, paninis, and salads, and maintaining high standards of cleanliness and health and safety. The ideal candidate will be customer-focused, work well under pressure, be a team player, and self-motivated.
Must Have
- Experience of working in a similar catering environment
- Good knowledge of relevant Health & Safety legislation

Job Description

Given the nature of this role, the successful candidate will need to be fully studio based and we are unable to offer remote or hybrid working. We can however provide a comprehensive relocation support package as part of any offer, should you need to relocate.
WHAT’S THE ROLE?
We’re looking for a Catering Assistant to join our catering team on a part-time basis. This role is key to ensuring the efficient routine operation of The Space Bar, our staff restaurant, requiring a strong sense of ownership of the kitchen and functions within it. Our Catering Team sits within our Health, Safety & Facilities team, whose aim it is to provide a positive, comfortable, and welcoming environment for all our people at all times.
Please note that the hours for this role are 30 hours per week – Monday to Friday 8:00am-2:30pm
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
- Working front and back of house, serving customers food, and working on the till.
- Assisting with the day-to-day running of the Space Bar restaurant.
- Helping the Catering Manager and Chefs get ready for service.
- Food preparation tasks such as peeling, trimming and washing food so it is ready to be cooked and served.
- Make sandwiches, paninis and salads, and associated tasks, to a high standard.
- Help produce food of an impeccable standard while adhering to health and safety standards and regulations.
- Remaining customer focused at all times, being visible and approachable especially during service periods, and quick to exceed expectations to fulfil customer needs.
- Ensure the highest level of cleanliness of all kitchen and catering work areas, including but not limited to washing kitchen appliances, work surfaces, floors and walls.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING
- An interest in food and catering, with experience of working in a similar environment, and good knowledge of relevant H&S legislation.
- Passionate to provide excellent customer service.
- Works well under pressure, and is comfortable in a flexible, fast paced working environment.
- Team player that promotes both a fun but efficient and professional team environment.
- Shows a hands-on and willing approach to all tasks.
- Enthusiastic, with an eagerness to learn new skills.
- Self-motivated and able to work alone without direction.
