Job Summary

The Community Relations Intern supports the execution of community, environmental, and education projects at Intel Ireland. This role involves managing volunteer and charity programs like Matching Grants, Intel Involved, and Signature Charity initiatives. Key responsibilities include supporting reputation projects, managing internal and external digital communications by sourcing and editing content, and assisting with education programs such as scheduling, promotion, and logistics for scholarships. The intern will gain broad business skills in a fast-paced environment.

Must Have

  • Support execution of community, environmental and education projects
  • Encourage volunteerism to enhance positive relationships with the local community and employee base
  • Be a key contributor in running Intel Ireland’s signature volunteer and charity programs
  • Manage Intel’s Matching Grants program
  • Support Intel Involved and Skills-Based Volunteering initiatives
  • Assist with Signature Charity selection and activities
  • Support signature reputation projects such as Matching Grant Event, Pride of Place and Mini Scientist
  • Assist in managing Intel Ireland’s internal and external digital communication channels
  • Source, write/create/edit communication content and articles
  • Manage the process for requesting updates to Intel’s online channels
  • Manage expiration and refresh of existing online content
  • Provide communications support to wider public affairs initiatives
  • Play a contributing and supportive role in running various education programs
  • Assist with the scheduling and promotion of Intel’s scholarship and educational programs
  • Communicate directly with participants (schools and individuals)
  • Support logistics for individual education programs (scheduling, volunteer recruitment, judging, awards planning)
  • Attention to detail, data analysis, and project management experience
  • Effective time management skills and the ability to work across organisational boundaries
  • Excellent problem-solving, oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and enjoys collaborative team environments

Position Description: CRI role exists to support execution of community, environmental and education projects in a way that encourages volunteerism so that positive relationships with the local community and the employee base are enhanced.

The Community Relations intern role is an integral part of the Ireland Community Relations and Sustainable Operations team.

Primary Responsibilities:

Apply your skills to be a key contributor in the running of signature volunteer and charity programs, namely

  • Intel’s Matching Grants program awards cash grants to schools, charities, and non-profit organisations where employees volunteer their time. The grants are accrued based on the number of hours that are volunteered by employees at organisations, which are registered as part of the program.
  • Intel Involved and Skills-Based Volunteering: Every year a large percentage of our employees across Ireland volunteer their time in the communities where they live and work. In the last 5 years employees have volunteered more than 266,000 hours supporting a variety of community-based initiatives and projects.
  • Signature Charity: Each year, we select a signature charities, giving employees the opportunity to dedicate their efforts towards providing volunteer time and funds, raised through specially organised activities, to those chosen organisations.
  • Support: Support signature reputation projects such as Matching Grant Event, Pride of Place and Mini Scientist.
  • Communication: assist in managing our internal and external digital communication channels. Activities include
  • Sourcing, writing/creating/editing communication content and articles that enhance reputation.
  • Manage the process for requesting updates to our internal and external online channels.
  • Manage expiration and refresh of existing online content.
  • Provide communications support to wider public affairs initiatives.

This aspect of the role requires attention to detail, creativity, and team working skills to engage with a variety of stakeholders.

  • Education: We spend ~€1.3 million each year on education programs. You will play a contributing and supportive role in the running of various education programs, including
  • Assist with the scheduling and promotion of our scholarship and educational programs
  • Communicate directly with participants (schools and individuals) regarding their participation.
  • Support the logistics for individual education programs e.g. program scheduling, volunteer recruitment, judging, awards planning, etc.

This aspect of the role requires good planning and organisational skills.
