Job Description

Ennismore is seeking a Controller for the growing SLS Playa Mujeres Cancun, All-Inclusive collection in Cancun, Mexico. This role involves managing cash flow, monitoring revenues and expenses, creating budgets, preparing financial reports, and ensuring compliance with accounting policies and regulations. The Controller will also lead and develop the Finance team, contributing to the financial objectives of a new luxury all-inclusive hotel with 500 rooms and 18 restaurants.
Must have:
  • Manage and communicate cash flow issues, including statements, receivables, payables, and deposits.
  • Monitor hotel revenues and expenses, ensuring accurate recording.
  • Create annual budgets and perform monthly variance analysis.
  • Direct and prepare all financial reports by deadlines.
  • Investigate variances and suggest improvements.
  • Monitor capital planning process and property upkeep.
  • Comply with Standard Accounting policies and internal controls.
  • Ensure compliance on regulatory licenses, permits, leases, contracts, and taxes.
  • Analyze financial data to advise management on financial objectives.
  • Reconcile all balance sheet accounts and bank reconciliations timely.
  • Hire, train, supervise, and develop the Finance team.
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive Finance/Accounting management experience in full-service, all-inclusive, or luxury resort.
  • Proficient in Opera, Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of local laws, occupational safety, wage and hour, and labor relations.

We are looking for a Controller to join the growing SLS Playa Mujeres Cancun, All-Inclusive collection based in Cancun.

Ennismore, with its luxury brand SLS, is currently undertaking a magnificent all-inclusive project in the oasis that is Playa Mujeres, just north of Cancun, Mexico.

Introducing the new jewel of dazzling luxury in Playa Mujeres, Cancun: our all-inclusive hotel offers 500 luxurious rooms, plus an impressive array of 18 restaurants and a rejuvenating spa. Ideal for adults seeking a getaway and families looking to connect and adventure, this hotel brings to Cancun a world of extraordinary experiences, with a variety of services and activities tailored to travelers of all ages.

Job Description

  • Manage and communicate cash flow related issues which includes the accurate and timely preparation of cash flow statements, management of receivables, payables, cash balances, control mechanisms and timely deposits of all funds.
  • Monitor hotel revenues and expenses and ensure the accurate recording in accordance with the hotel established guidelines.
  • Creates annual budgets and monthly variance analysis.
  • Monitor the accurate production of the hotel daily operating report.
  • Direct and/or prepare all financial reports in accordance with requirements meeting various due dates and deadlines.
  • Investigate and critique variances to budget or to prior year and offer practical improvement methodologies to management.
  • Monitor the capital planning process by assisting management with the calculation of return on capital improvements, gathering support and monitoring the bid process, and ensuring proper upkeep of the property by evaluating scope of work and specifications.
  • Complies with Standard Accounting policies and procedures and internal controls for finance and accounting operations.
  • Ensure hotels’ compliance on all regulatory licenses and permits, leases, contracts, legal agreements, and the proper execution of all operational taxes.
  • Provide assistance to management in enforcing compliance on all these items.
  • Analyze financial data and operations in order to assist and advise management in maintaining the hotels’ financial objectives. Ensure that all balance sheet accounts, including bank reconciliation’s are reconciled on a timely basis.
  • Embrace a continuous growth environment by actively providing feedback, coaching and supporting the hotel’s operational leader.
  • Hire, train, supervise and develop Finance team, including coaching and counseling
  • Timely interacts with Executive Committee members to assure that property operations are on track and under control at all times.
  • Any other reasonable duties as assigned by the supervisor or manager.
  • We recognize we are in the hospitality industry and that may require us to provide lateral service. We will on occasion call for each individual in the team to on a routine basis perform various related tasks as needed in the spirit of providing exceptional guest service
  • Partner with Executive Committee on areas of collaboration.
  • Any other reasonable duties as assigned by the supervisor or manager.
  • We recognize we are in the hospitality industry and that may require us to provide lateral service. We will on occasion call for each individual in the team to perform various related tasks as needed in the spirit of providing exceptional guest service

Qualifications

  • College Degree in Business, Hospitality, Accounting/Finance or related field preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive Finance/Accounting management experience in a full service property, all inclusive, or luxury resort
  • Ability to create, implement and monitor hotel and staff goals, strategies and policies
  • Ability to be resourceful, creative and maintain flexibility
  • Ability to train, motivate, evaluate, mentor and direct employees and managers to meet desired ends
  • Ability to maintain excellent relations with staff and maintain staff and guest confidentiality at all times
  • Open to feedback and ability to make appropriate changes as needed
  • Proven team leader with a high level of energy and motivation with a proven track record of living the company's values
  • A proficient understanding of Computer systems such as: Opera, Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook.
  • Ability to spend extended lengths of time viewing a computer screen
  • Possess a gracious, friendly, and fun demeanor
  • Ability to multitask, work in a fast-paced environment and have a high level attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and to partner with others to promote an environment of teamwork
  • Must be able observant and quick to respond to various situations while also multitasking and handling stressful situations
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
