Job Summary
TransUnion is seeking a Data Engineer Apprentice to join its Data Bureau team in the UK. This role involves delivering high-impact data solutions, coordinating data appends, ensuring quality, and driving process improvements in credit and financial services. The apprentice will also complete a Level 5 Data Engineer Apprenticeship, managing batch appends, collaborating with internal teams, and enhancing engineering capabilities.
Must Have
- Strong organisational and process management skills
- Excellent communication skills—both written and verbal
- High attention to detail and ability to troubleshoot issues effectively
- Passion for service excellence and continuous improvement
- Ability to prioritise workload based on client contractual SLA’s and other needs and requirements
Good to Have
- Basic Microsoft Excel, SQL, and PowerPoint
- Experience using R or Python
- Proven experience as a data analyst in a fast-paced environment
- Experience in a regulated environment, ideally in financial services
- Knowledge of the credit industry
- Knowledge of process improvements techniques
- Experience of working within a diverse team and communicating with stakeholders at all levels

What You'll Bring:
We’re looking for a Data Engineer Apprentice to join our growing Data Bureau team.
As a Data Engineer Apprentice in our Data Bureau team, you’ll play a pivotal role in delivering high-impact data solutions that shape the future of credit and financial services in the UK. You’ll work closely with internal teams to coordinate data appends, ensure quality, and drive process improvements that enhance our service delivery. Alongside, you’ll study for the Level 5 Data Engineer Apprenticeship.
Day to Day You’ll Be:
Level 5 Data Engineer Apprenticeship
- Complete all 7 modules of the Level 5 Data Engineer Apprenticeship
- Complete an End Point Assessment, project report and professional discussion
- 20% of overall time doing off-the-job training
Data Coordination & Quality Assurance
- Manage batch appends through the end-to-end cycle, including file appraisal and feedback, processing, quality control and delivery
- Collaborate with Client Management and Analytics teams to deliver customer value
- Work closely with teams in other geographical regions
- Prioritise effectively to meet client SLAs and business objectives
Process Improvement
- Leverage engineering capabilities to champion transformative improvements to batch processes
- Use collaborative tools and agile techniques to manage technical process improvements
- Enhance skills in version control tools to ensure traceability, code quality, and efficient team collaboration
Essential Skills & Experience:
