Job Summary
The global data center operation team at ByteDance supports the company's rapid growth by managing hyperscale datacenters. This role involves operating the end-to-end lifecycle of server fleets, providing scalable and reliable cloud solutions and infrastructure services. The team seeks candidates with strong technical infrastructure backgrounds, passionate about engineering excellence, and capable of delivering effective, sustainable solutions. Responsibilities include participating in and reviewing datacenter MEP design, supporting the DC Engineering FM team, conducting audits, and collaborating to enhance MEP design for future needs.
Must Have
- Participate and Review Data Center MEP Design and other necessary disciplines for new data center builds and data hall fitouts
- Participate in Testing and Commissioning Discussions to determine required tests to verify design elements
- Support the DC Engineering FM team to become a Subject Matter Expert and understand how to overcome design limitations and risks
- Conduct a periodic Audit or Assessment to access the effectiveness and practicality of the design in-use on our data centers
- Be an ambassador to explain data center infrastructure design to visitors
- Continually find ways to collaborate and break new ground to enhance MEP design to meet future needs
- Maintain positive and collaborative working relations with partner teams, vendors, teammates, and internal customers
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering
- Knowledge of standard power and cooling calculations necessary to determine capacity requirements (i.e., TIA-942, ASHRAE)
- Understand Power Redundancy and how it is implemented in design (i.e., 2N or N+1 Distributed Redundant)
- Experience with Cooling Redundancy and how Concurrent Maintainability is implemented in design (i.e., N+1 or N+2)
- Electrical and/or mechanical engineering experience such as generators, chillers, cooling towers, air handling units, UPS, electrical sub-distribution systems
Good to Have
- Lead or influence a Design and Architect team to complete Data Center Conceptual >30%>60%>90% Detailed Design Process
- Practice Data Center Tiering Standards (i.e., TIA-942 Rated 3, or Uptime Tier 3) in a detailed design process
- Lead or influence a construction team to complete Data Hall fit-out experience, including IT services Coordination, Power and Cooling Planning
- Lead or influence a testing and commissioning team to perform L1 to L5 commissioning tests to validate the system design intent and resolve technical problems along the way

Minimum Qualifications
