Job Description
Lab49 is seeking a DevOps Engineer to support a data science team in migrating machine learning models from development to a production API service. Key responsibilities include architecting, developing, and deploying DevOps workflows, contributing to cloud architecture adoption and best practices, and mentoring development teams on cloud competencies. The role involves defining and documenting best practices for application deployment and infrastructure maintenance. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of experience in production software deployment, proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and cloud technologies like AWS and Terraform, and strong experience with CI/CD, Docker, Python package managers, and SQL for data pipeline jobs.

Lab49 is looking for a DevOps Engineer to help and support a data science team to move their machine learning MVP and POC from running in a development environment to a fully standalone API service in a production environment.
Key responsibilities:
- Architect, design, develop, and deploy DevOps flows to support a data science team.
- Actively contribute to the adoption of cloud architecture, development and engineering best practices, and new cloud technologies.
- Provide guidance, thought leadership, and mentorship to development teams to build cloud competencies.
- Define and document best practices and strategies regarding application deployment and infrastructure maintenance.
Required Skills and Experience:
- 5+ years as a technical IC putting software into production.
- Proficiency in IaC and cloud technologies.
- Good understanding of the AWS ecosystem and Terraform.
- Proficient in CI/CD technologies and best practices for deploying software APIs and data pipelines to production.
- Proficient with Docker and best practices for creating new API services.
- Experience with Python package managers and Python testing frameworks.
- Experience with SQL and creating schedule data pipeline jobs that power other systems.
Desired Skills:
- Ideally, experience with Data Engineering and Machine Learning models, MLOps and AIOps (or interested in picking up).
- Experience with GenAI technologies and RAG is a plus.
