Job Description

Barracuda is seeking a Director of Engineering to lead its Email Archive portfolio. This role involves guiding distributed teams in building and operating systems for data ingestion, transformation, and storage in AWS and Azure, managing over 50 petabytes of data. The Director will drive modernization, cost efficiency, partner with Product Management and UX, engage with customers, own architecture and operations for large-scale data systems, and foster a high-performing culture.

Must Have:

Lead globally distributed teams through transformation and growth.
Partner with Product Management and UX to define and deliver roadmaps.
Engage directly with customers on incidents and roadmap validation.
Own architecture and operations for largescale data ingestion, indexing, and storage.
Drive excellence in CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and progressive delivery.
Leverage AI responsibly to enhance product capabilities and engineering workflows.
15+ years in software engineering, 8+ years in leadership roles.
Proven success leading remote, distributed teams and partnering cross-functionally.
Experience with compliance archiving & eDiscovery.
Expertise in AWS and/or Azure, multiregion deployments, and cost optimization.
Strong background in CI/CD, observability, and incident management.
Hands on experience with largescale data systems (ETL, search/indexing, object storage).
Experience applying AI/ML in enterprise products with governance and guardrails.

What you’ll be working on

What you bring to the role

15+ years in software engineering, 8+ years in leadership roles (including managing managers).
Proven success leading remote, distributed teams and partnering cross-functionally.
Experience with compliance archiving & eDiscovery (journaling, legal hold, WORM storage).
Expertise in AWS and/or Azure, multiregion deployments, and cost optimization.
Strong background in CI/CD, observability, and incident management.
Hands on experience with largescale data systems (ETL, search/indexing, object storage).
Experience applying AI/ML in enterprise products with governance and guardrails.
