Job Description

This role is for an e-Beam System Engineer in R&D Extension Korea, focusing on system development, enhancement, and rapid issue resolution for customer sites. Responsibilities include technical analysis of Provision System issues, leading follow-up actions, and providing technical support for installed equipment. The role also involves developing new capabilities, optimizing for customer needs, and collaborating with R&D teams to improve tool performance and develop next-generation platforms.
Good To Have:

  • Wide knowledge of semiconductors process.
  • Experienced with semiconductors organizations.

Must Have:
  • Conduct initial analysis and PDC sharing for technical issues related to Provision System.
  • Lead or participate in follow-up actions to improve or develop solutions addressing root causes.
  • Provide technical support for installed equipment and contribute to functional improvements and developments.
  • Own technical leadership for system support and provide solutions for complex task force activities.
  • Participate in account project & TF and support tool evaluation for new technologies and new features in customer site.
  • Perform fault isolation tests to assist in problem resolution and customer situation management.
  • Assist in communication and collaboration with the customer regarding tool performance issues and their resolution path.
  • Develop a collaborative relationship with the customer and identify high value problems.
  • Participate in developing new capabilities and optimizing them for specific customer needs.
  • Provide solutions for customer challenges and chronic issues, such as TTTM and tool stability issues.
  • Contribute to prepare tool management SOP with eBeam system group.
  • Provide the optimal condition of system parameters under PDC system and physics guidance.
  • Collaboration with PDC technology and system teams on individual tasks with extensive on-tool experiments.
  • Perform tasks as part of the PDC team on PDC tool with collaboration of multiple disciplines.
  • Direct link between the R&D to the field / customer for any Data / Solution transfer and dialogue.

Local expert for eBeam (SEM) system development and enhancement, and provide rapid issue response and resolution for customer sites

  • Conducting initial analysis and PDC sharing for technical issues related with Provision System (mainly focusing on deep technical participation), including unknown, severe, or system-immaturity-related issues and problems. Lead or participate in follow-up actions to improve or develop solutions addressing root causes.
  • Provision (Emerging Market SEM) is main focusing the Massive Image Acquisition and Metrology – especially, HS inspection, CD uniformity and On-Cell Overlay.
  • Basically, provide technical support for installed equipment and contribute to functional improvements and developments. Workload ratio between support and development is flexibly adjusted, with 50:50 as the baseline.

a. Supporting Explanation: On-site System Support

  • Owning technical leadership for system support and providing solutions for complex task force activities such as defect visualization, CD & OVL tool to tool matching, precision, data reliability, and TPT (throughput), etc.
  • Participate in account project & TF and supporting tool evaluation for new technologies and new features in customer site as co-working with local Accounts.
  • Perform fault isolation tests, to assist in problem resolution and customer situation management. Clear problem statement and data collection for issues that can’t be solved on site.
  • Assist in the communication and collaboration with the customer regarding tool performance issues, and their resolution path. Resolve issue and provide the proper report to the customer: Primarily responsible for technical issue handling, with minimal direct customer interaction
  • Develop a collaborative relationship with the customer and identify the high value problems that need PDC (Metrology and Inspection R&D Center)’s attention. Customer facing focal for technical system issues, giving presentations, and collaborating with the customer.

b. Supporting Explanation: R&D and Tool performance improvement

  • Participate in developing new capabilities and optimizing them for specific customer needs.
  • To provide solutions for customer challenges and chronic issues, such as TTTM (tool-to-tool matching) and tool stability issues, contributing to prepare tool management SOP (Standard Operation Procedure) with eBeam system group through investigating root cause and C&F, and participating in CIP and technical roadmap for next generation.
  • Providing the optimal condition of system parameters under PDC system and physics guidance to bring tool best performance with high level of tool diagnosis and verification capability to satisfy customer required specification, such as pattern imaging, TPT, data precision & reliability, etc.
  • Collaboration with PDC technology and system teams as taking on individual tasks with extensive on-tool experiments on relevant customer wafers as a part of R&D development to optimize the performance of the current platform, as well as develop the next generation platform.
  • Performing tasks as part of the PDC team meaning on PDC tool with collaboration of the multiple disciplines – application, algo, physics, electronics, etc.
  • Direct link between the R&D to the field / customer for any Data / Solution transfer and dialogue. May lead on site data collection and analysis to observe the option of future developments.

Requirements:

  • M.Sc. and above in EE, Physics, or ME

Preferred: >3 year proven hands-on experience in System development / Semiconductor Engineering / SEM Engineering.

  • Independent, can work in an open environment and efficiently manage his own work. Highly motivated and determined.
  • Strive for excellence. Setting and pursing high bar goals.
  • High analytical skills. Ability to research, analyze and understand complex system problem.
  • Interpersonal capabilities – ability to work in a multidisciplinary team and lead without authority as showing excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Fluent communication in English on both verbal and text
  • Travel – capable for initial 1-2 months travel and later willingness for frequent visits in PDC headquarter (1-2 times/year)
