Job Description

The EHS Manager will be responsible for leading and managing all environmental, health, and safety programs across two New Jersey locations (Lyndhurst and Lakewood). Key responsibilities include ensuring compliance with environmental regulations (e.g., air permits, RCRA, NJPDES), managing process safety, leading EHS training, conducting risk assessments, and overseeing incident investigations. The role requires implementing and maintaining programs that drive safety and compliance, integrating corporate EHS standards, and submitting state and federal reports.
Must have:
  • Lead site in Environmental, Health & Safety, Ergonomics, Industrial Hygiene and Emergency Response.
  • Coach leadership team on safe behaviors, conditions, and approaches.
  • Lead and manage all aspects of EHS training.
  • Lead site for key Risk Assessments such as HIRA, JHA/JSA, and Safe Work Permitting.
  • Ensure proper utilization of company EHS systems such as Sphera, HSI SDS Program, and Gensuite.
  • Support site engineering for compliance with company Process Safety efforts.
  • Lead and manage incident/accident investigation processes for near misses and all injuries.
  • Facilitate New Hire EHS Orientation for temporary and full-time employees.
  • Participate in the site Behavior Based Safety program.
  • Lead assist in Root Cause Analysis for incidents / near misses.
  • Integrate all Corporate and Regional Environmental, Health & Safety programs into daily operations.
  • Participate and assist in managing Management of Change (MOC) process.
  • Submit State and Federal EH&S reports (TRI, Tier II, etc.).
  • Manage all aspects of Environmental including Air Permits.
  • Assist sites to implement Corporate EHS Standards and Procedures.
  • Assist Human Resources regarding workers compensation case details.
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in occupational safety, environmental health science, or similar degree.
  • 5-10 years professional experience in occupational safety, environmental, or similar role(s).
  • Knowledge of EPA (Environmental) OSHA (Occupational Safety), and similar regulations and reporting.
Good to have:
  • Chemical or similar manufacturing backgrounds preferred.
  • CSP or CIH and/or MS preferred.
  • Strong verbal, written, analytical and influence skills.
  • Ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees and management.
  • Experience developing safety culture (E.g., Bradley Curve).
  • Self-motivated, self-starter.

Responsibilities & Opportunities

We are seeking an EHS Manager that will be responsible for all environmental reports, process safety, air permits, DPCC, RCRA, NJPDES and local environmental programs. The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing and maintaining programs that drive safety and compliance.

Specific Responsibilities:

Environmental, Health & Safety Program management:

  • Lead site in areas of Environmental, Health & Safety, Ergonomics, Industrial Hygiene and Emergency Response.
  • Coach leadership team on safe behaviors, conditions, and approaches for improved safety culture
  • Lead and manage all aspects of EHS training
  • Lead site for key Risk Assessments such as HIRA, JHA/JSA, and Safe Work Permitting
  • Participate in Gemba / Safety walks focusing on behaviors and conditions
  • Ensure proper utilization of company EHS systems such as Sphera, HSI SDS Program, and Gensuite
  • Support site engineering for compliance with company Process Safety efforts
  • Lead and manage incident/accident investigation processes for near misses and all injuries
  • Facilitate New Hire EHS Orientation for temporary and full-time employees
  • Participate in the site Behavior Based Safety program
  • Lead assist in Root Cause Analysis for incidents / near misses
  • Integrate all Corporate and Regional Environmental, Health & Safety programs into daily operations
  • Participate and assist in managing Management of Change (MOC) process

  • Manage all aspects of Environmental including Air Permits (internally and use of 3rd party)
  • Assist sites to implement Corporate EHS Standards and Procedures
  • Assist Human Resources regarding workers compensation case details from injury reports and follow-up analysis needed once employee returns to work
  • This position is responsible for two locations: Lyndhurst and Lakewood, NJ.

Salary Range: $102K-$130K based on education, experience, and qualifications of the applicant.

Qualifications/Experience:

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in occupational safety, environmental health science, or similar degree.
  • 5-10 years professional experience in occupational safety, environmental, or similar role(s)
  • Chemical or similar manufacturing backgrounds preferred
