Job Summary

This role involves designing circuits for power electronic components in automotive applications, including selecting and evaluating components. The responsibilities include designing and developing automotive switching power supply units (PSU) and gate driver units (GDU) using the company's products. The engineer will also be involved in the layout of printed circuit boards, low and high voltage evaluation of components, providing technical support to customers, researching new technologies, and preparing technical documentation. Collaboration with various departments and groups is also expected.

Must Have

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or related fields.
  • Good understanding of Power Electronics and electrical engineering fundamentals.
  • Two (2) years of experience as Power Supply Design Engineer.
  • Excellent written and oral communications.
  • Very good command of spoken and written English.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
  • Learning capability and willingness to pursue further education.
  • Resilient under stress even in tough situations.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Team player.

Good to Have

  • Experienced in circuit design and layout of printed circuit boards with CAD systems.
  • Experienced in characterization of gate drivers, power semiconductors and/or inverter systems.
  • Experienced in designing of power electronic circuitry for automotive electronic equipment.
  • Good knowledge of power electronic components and/or inverter systems.
  • Good knowledge of international standards.
  • Knowledge of Functional Safety requirements acc. to ISO 26262

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Circuit design of power electronic components (excluding ICs and/or ASICs) for automotive applications (e.g. gate drivers, power supplies) including selection and evaluation of suitable components
  • Design and develop automotive switching power supply units (PSU) and gate driver units (GDU) using the company's products for documentation/training materials, customer requirements or board products
  • Layout of printed circuit boards for automotive applications including compilation of related production data for manufacturing partners
  • Low and high voltage evaluation of power electronic components
  • Provide design support and technical advice to the company's customers
  • Pre-research of technologies related to future product developments for automotive applications
  • Technical documentation e.g. for Application Note or Datasheets
  • Collaboration with and support to related automotive and industrial groups like Business Development, Marketing, ASIC Development, Application Engineering, Operations, Quality Department, etc.
  • Other duties related to role as assigned

Requirements

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or related fields
  • Good understanding of Power Electronics and electrical engineering fundamentals
  • Two (2) years of experience as Power Supply Design Engineer or design experience in any of the following areas: power converters/conversion/management, switching/switch mode power supply units (PSU), inverters, power electronics design equipment, analog electronics design, control loop design and power magnetics design (transformer, chokes or inductors)
  • Excellent written and oral communications with experience in specification creation, technical report writing and test plans/instructions
  • Very good command of spoken and written English
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently with minimum supervision
  • Learning capability and willingness to pursue further education
  • Resilient under stress even in tough situations
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Team player

Preferred

  • Experienced in circuit design and layout of printed circuit boards with CAD systems (e.g. Altium Designer) and simulation tools (e.g. Micro-Cap, LTSpice, Simetrix)
  • Experienced in characterization of gate drivers, power semiconductors and/or inverter systems
  • Experienced in designing of power electronic circuitry for automotive electronic equipment
  • Good knowledge of power electronic components (e.g. IGBT, MOSFET, SiC MOSFET, Gate Driver) and/or inverter systems
  • Good knowledge of international standards (e.g. DIN EN, VDE, IEC, ISO)
  • Knowledge of Functional Safety requirements acc. to ISO 26262
