Job Summary
The Technical Writer & Illustrator is responsible for creating clear and concise documentation, manuals, and visual content that effectively communicates complex technical information to varied audiences. This role requires both technical writing and illustration skills to enhance the comprehensibility and engagement of the content produced, collaborating with subject matter experts and cross-functional teams. The position is hybrid, based in Pune, India, and involves daily collaboration with international teams.
Must Have
- Develop and write clear, concise, and user-friendly documentation, manuals, and guides for products and services.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts to gather information and ensure accuracy of content.
- Edit, revise, and proofread technical content for consistency, clarity, and quality.
- Create high-quality, detailed illustrations, diagrams, and other visual content.
- Work closely with technical teams to understand the products and visualize concepts accurately.
- Maintain consistency in style and branding across all visual content.
- Coordinate with cross-functional, international teams, including technical communication, engineering, product management, and marketing.
- Participate in project meetings to provide insights and updates on documentation progress.
- Awareness of ISO 14001 & 45001 standard.
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, technical writing, communications, graphic design or in a related field.
- Proven 5-7 years of experience as a technical writer and illustrator.
- Strong understanding of technical concepts and the ability to translate them into user-friendly documentation.
- Proficiency in DITA XML documentation tools (e.g., Tridion Docs, Oxygen, Arbotext editor, Adobe).
- Proficiency in graphic design software (e.g., Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop) and STE100 standards.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Good to Have
- Experience with Product Lifecycle Management systems (PLM) and version control systems.
- Knowledge of 3D modelling software is a plus.
- Any experience within heavy engineering machinery (cranes etc.) is a plus.

Key Responsibilities:
Technical Writing:
- Develop and write clear, concise, and user-friendly documentation, manuals, and guides for products and services.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts to gather information and ensure accuracy of content.
- Edit, revise, and proofread technical content for consistency, clarity, and quality.
Illustration:
- Create high-quality, detailed illustrations, diagrams, and other visual content to support and enhance written documentation.
- Work closely with technical teams to understand the products and visualize concepts accurately.
- Maintain consistency in style and branding across all visual content.
Collaboration:
- Coordinate with cross-functional, international teams, including technical communication, engineering, product management, and marketing, to align documentation with product development and business goals.
- Participate in project meetings to provide insights and updates on documentation progress.
Awareness of ISO 14001 & 45001 standard.
The role is based in our office in SP Infocity, Hadapsar, Pune – but it goes without saying that the remote & hybrid working is a part of our modern ways of working along with daily collaboration with Konecranes Port Solutions documentation teams, located in Finland, Germany and China.
To achieve these goals, required qualification and skill set are:
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, technical writing, communications, graphic design or in a related field.
- Proven 5 Yrs - 7 Yrs of experience as a technical writer and illustrator, preferably within a technical or industrial setting.
- Strong understanding of technical concepts and the ability to translate them into user-friendly documentation.
- Proficiency in DITA XML documentation tools (e.g., Tridion Docs, Oxygen, Arbotext editor, Adobe), graphic design software (e.g., Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop) and STE100 standards.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

Preferred Skills:
- Experience with Product Lifecycle Management systems (PLM) and version control systems.
