Job Description

As a Financial Associate I - Taxonomy at AlphaSense, you'll contribute to a newly created division focused on expanding their financial data database. Responsibilities include reviewing detailed data sheets, applying labels and annotations to financial data using accounting and finance principles, conducting historical financial statement analysis, and supporting the development of labelling standards and dashboards. You'll work closely with analysts, providing excellent client service. This role requires a strong understanding of financial statements, accounting principles, and excellent communication skills. The position offers the opportunity to increase your knowledge of accounting, capital markets, and the financial data industry.
Must have:
  • Bachelor's degree in finance/accounting/business
  • Understanding of financial statements & accounting principles
  • Strong communication & teamwork skills
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills
Good to have:
  • CPA, CFA, or similar designation in progress
  • Experience with financial modeling

About the Team:

The Taxonomy Team is a newly created division of Alphasense's FinData offering, focused on dramatically increasing the number of companies under coverage. The team is the first step in creating a new financial data database that will offer our customers an unmatched level of accuracy, context, and flexibility to analyze and make investment decisions.

About the Role: 

Join the Taxonomy division inside our Global Research Team as a full-time Financial Associate. Successful candidates will find themselves increasing their knowledge of accounting, capital markets, and the financial data industry with their exposure and contributions to increasing the coverage of our financial database.

What You’ll Do: 

  • Build and support the review of detailed data sheets on both existing and new coverage across all global geographies.
  • Lead initiatives to apply labels and annotations to financial data based on your specific research and understanding of accounting and/or finance principles.
  • Conduct historical financial statement analysis.
  • Develop expertise to support the development of labelling standards, dashboards for comparative analysis, and new model features.
  • Support Analysts in providing exceptional client service to all clients.

Who You Are:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or business with an interest in capital markets and financial modeling
  • Good understanding of financial statements and accounting principles
  • Strong communication skills and highly team-oriented
  • Strong work ethic and integrity
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Ability to deliver under pressure and work to tight deadlines
  • Ability to prioritize work and multi-task responsibilities
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills
  • Completion or progress towards a CPA, CFA or similar designation is an asset

Base Compensation Range*:  $50,000
Additional Components: You may also be offered a performance-based bonus, equity, and a generous benefits program.
*For base compensation, we set standard ranges for all US-based roles based on function, level and geographic location, benchmarked against similar stage growth companies and internal comparables. In order to be compliant with local legislation, as well as to provide greater transparency to candidates, we share salary ranges on all job postings regardless of desired hiring location. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including geographic location as well as candidate experience/expertise and may vary from the amounts listed above.
