Founding Full-Stack Engineer at Floot (S25)

Floot is building an AI-first software foundation for non-coders to create and deploy full-stack web applications. The company experienced significant growth, from 5 to over 600 paying customers during its YC batch. Floot aims to become the default platform for anyone to build and ship software, distinguishing itself by rebuilding the entire software stack for an AI-driven coding world. The founders are experienced staff engineers from Retool and AWS, with the CTO having previously bootstrapped a SaaS company to over $5M ARR.

Must Have

• Talk to users to improve Floot's AI and UX (10-20% on support)
• Ship full-stack features and build foundational blocks for user apps (storage, payments, auth)
• Improve our AI runtime to handle edge cases and make our agentic system more reliable
• Prompt engineering and evals to improve AI output quality (for both function + design)
• Build robust infrastructure for our end-to-end platform to power millions of production apps
• Strong full-stack experience with React, TypeScript, and Node.js, having shipped production features end-to-end
• Strong sense of ownership: autonomous and owning features from start to finish
• Fast but thoughtful: shipping quickly without cutting corners on things that matter
• Strong sense for UX and product polish: believing that craft matters

Our founders are staff engineers from Retool and AWS. Edward (CTO) bootstrapped his last SaaS company to $5M+ ARR in one year.

About the role

As engineer #1, you will work directly with the founders to build the product and shape our culture. You’ll wear many hats and touch everything from AI systems, user-facing features, to backend infrastructure.

What you’ll do

• Talk to users often to deeply understand how to improve Floot's AI and UX (you can expect to spend 10-20% of your time on support)
• Ship full-stack features and build the foundational building blocks that users will use to build their apps seamlessly (e.g. storage, payments, auth, etc)
• Improve our AI runtime to handle edge cases and make our agentic system more reliable
• Prompt engineering and evals to improve AI output quality (for both function + design)
• Build robust infrastructure for our end-to-end platform to power millions of production apps
