The FX Artist at Wargaming will design and implement visually appealing effects for World of Warships on PC. Responsibilities include creating particle systems, textures, and optimizing VFX within the game's proprietary editor. The role requires collaboration with various teams (visual, design, tech) to ensure seamless integration and an enhanced player experience. The artist will resolve technical and creative issues, creating a range of effects including environmental, fire/explosion, and weapon effects, from realistic to stylized. Proficiency in particle systems, game engines, and relevant software is crucial.
Must have:
  • Particle system experience
  • Game engine proficiency
  • Understanding of physics and FX principles
  • Photoshop & Substance Designer skills
  • Houdini FX or similar software expertise

Job Overview

An FX Artist on the WOWS PC project is a position that combines both technical and artistic responsibilities. As a VFX Artist, you will be responsible for creating dynamic and visually appealing visual effects for World of Warships. Our artists develop unique effects for new content, as well as provide support and improvements for existing content. You will work closely with the Visual team, game designers, and Tech teams to ensure that the VFX integrates seamlessly into the gameplay and enhances the overall player experience. Your role will involve conceptualizing, creating, and implementing a variety of effects, including environmental, fire and explosions, and weapon effects, both realistic and stylized.

What will you do?

  • Design and configure visual effects in the World of Warship's proprietary editor
  • Create textures and optimize VFX
  • Resolve all related technical and creative issues, both within the team and with related teams

What are we looking for?

  • Experience in working with particle systems
  • Experience in working with game engines
  • Understanding of basic physics principles, knowledge of the general principles of dynamics, pyrotechnics, and creation of FX, such as fire, magic, smoke, gunfire, water, steam, explosions, dust, etc.
  • Experience with Adobe Photoshop and Substance Designer
  • Experience with Houdini FX, Embergen or similar software for simulating fire/fluids

What additional skills will help you stand out?

  • Experience with 3D modeling instruments such as Blender, Maya
  • Shader development
  • Artistic taste
  • Experience in creating weather and lighting for games
  • Interest in computer games
