Job Summary

The Motorola Solutions Graduate Program offers an intense and engaging experience for Graduate Engineers, collaborating within a fast-paced team of software, network, and system engineers. Key responsibilities include supporting design verification for public safety communication solutions, developing test automation, and executing testing based on customer requirements. Graduates will provide technical expertise for customer networks, design novel solutions for complex network problems, and engage with multi-disciplinary teams. The program offers exposure to evolving technologies such as Cloud Computing, Cybersecurity, IP Networking, and Digital Telecommunications, fostering growth through close work with senior engineers.

Must Have

  • Bachelor's degree in Electronic Engineering, Communications Engineering, Telecommunications or related subject
  • Experience working with IP Networks and RF systems (i.e. coursework/projects, research, internships, or other practical experience outside of schoolwork (including hobbies))
  • A genuine interest in IT, software development, communications and emerging technologies
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to gain trust, build rapport and influence others
  • Working proficiency in verbal and written English

Good to Have

  • Knowledge of IT Infrastructure, either via coursework or practical experience
  • Industry certification (IP Networking, RF and Communication Systems, IT System Administration, etc.)
  • Sound understanding of digital communications systems, software development, and IT systems, particularly mobile/cellular radio networks
  • The desire to develop software and test new applications and solutions
  • Driving License

Department Overview

The Motorola Solutions Graduate Program is an intense and engaging program that involves collaborating and working within a fast-paced team of software, network, and system engineers. This includes implementing and testing solutions for a variety of mission-critical applications and systems. Motorola Mission Critical Systems use multi-vendor products and are deployed globally. The successful candidate will be given the opportunity to work with evolving technologies such as Cloud Computing, Cybersecurity, IP Networking and Digital Telecommunications

Job Description

Responsibilities include:

  • Support the design verification of public safety communication solutions.
  • Develop test automation systems and software development
  • Review functionality and design, create and execute testing, highlighting any issues encountered and opportunities for improvement.
  • Create testing documentation and run test scripts based on customer requirements for both ongoing and new projects and solutions.
  • Conduct investigations across the full product life cycle, including user acceptance testing.
  • Provide technical expertise supporting the design and enhancements to the Motorola Solutions Customer networks across the ANZ/AMEA regions.
  • Develop strategies to support testing and verification activities for national/regional projects.
  • Design novel solutions to complex network and customer coverage problems, including verification requirements.
  • Engage with and provide technical details directly to suppliers or third parties on any issues encountered and influence design changes.
  • Liaise with multi-disciplinary teams, including Product managers, Project Managers, Solution Architects, Technical design Authorities and third-party suppliers in both face-to-face meetings and written formats.
  • Providing technical expertise to support a wide range of business units and project-related activities, including support for international ventures.
  • Stay abreast of new and emerging technologies or new products that could be exploited to reduce cost or increase performance, or reliability.
  • Work closely with Senior or principal engineers on customer deliverable projects to acquire technical knowledge and experience with best practice procedures.
  • Attend regular project review meetings and ad hoc development meetings

Basic Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electronic Engineering, Communications Engineering, Telecommunications or related subject - Essential
  • Experience working with IP Networks and RF systems (i.e. coursework/projects, research, internships, or other practical experience outside of schoolwork (including hobbies)).
  • A genuine interest in IT, software development, communications and emerging technologies and how they can be used to maximise an organisation's potential and improve the customer experience.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to gain trust, build rapport and influence others.
  • Working proficiency in verbal and written English

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of IT Infrastructure, either via coursework or practical experience
  • Industry certification is desirable but not mandatory (IP Networking, RF and Communication Systems, IT System Administration, etc.)
  • Sound understanding of digital communications systems, software development, and IT systems, particularly mobile/cellular radio networks.
  • The desire to develop software and test new applications and solutions which will greatly enhance the operation of emergency services users.
  • Driving License
