Job Summary
Thales is seeking a Hosting Systems Engineer responsible for the successful delivery of infrastructure services to Thales North America. This role involves deploying, maintaining, and ensuring uptime of production and engineering virtual servers, providing infrastructure support, and assisting with application deployment. The engineer will champion service restoration, handle tickets, support various hypervisors and operating systems, ensure security standards, and monitor service level agreements. The position requires 5+ years of experience in Linux enterprise infrastructure and VMware vSphere administration.
Must Have
- Deploying, maintaining, and ensuring uptime of all production and Engineering virtual servers
- Providing infrastructure support and application deployment assistance to Engineering software support team
- Championing service restoration through proper prioritization and escalation to vendors and/or internal support groups
- Providing support for infrastructure related service incidents (team rotation)
- Handling tickets in ServiceNow
- Reading architecture diagrams and constructing services based on those diagrams
- Infrastructure support including: VMWare hypervisors, Azure, AWS, Hyper-V, Linux servers, Windows servers
- Support of Engineering applications including Jira, Artifactory and Bitbucket
- Ensuring that all systems meet Thales security standards and escalating violations as required
- Weekly preparation of Systems service availability report for department
- Monitoring of customer Service Level Agreements, with respect to availability
- Maintaining service level of systems through proactive monitoring and performing maintenance
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Providing 7/24 On-Call support for infrastructure related service incidents (team rotation)
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science with a minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience or Master’s degree with 4+ years
- At least 5 years of Linux enterprise infrastructure related experience
- At least 5 years of experience in administering VMware vSphere, vCenter, Azure Stack
- Strong knowledge and experience in administering applications on Microsoft Windows and Linux (Red Hat and Ubuntu preferred)
- Ability to meet eligibility requirements outlined in the Canadian Controlled Goods Program and obtain NATO Secret security clearance

- Extensive knowledge and experience in administering Microsoft Active Directory
- Experience supporting software development environments

Key Areas of Responsibility

- Provide suggestions to team lead/manager in creating your professional development and training plan.
- Work on projects assigned to you, in effort to advance partnership opportunities with other teams
- Provide 7/24 On-Call support for infrastructure related service incidents and follow internal management escalation procedures when necessary (team rotation).
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science with a minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience or Master’s degree in computer science with 4+ years of relevant work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience
- At least 5 years of Linux enterprise infrastructure related experience
- At least 5 years of experience in administering VMware vSphere, vCenter, Azure Stack
- Excellent interpersonal & leadership skills
- Strong knowledge and experience in administering applications on Microsoft Windows and Linux (Red Hat and Ubuntu preferred)
- Excellent oral & written communication, people skills, planning, implementation and troubleshooting skills.
- Be able to carry out multiple assignments
- Be detailed oriented and able to work on own initiative
The ideal candidate will also have extensive knowledge and experience in administering Microsoft Active Directory as well as experience supporting software development environments.

Special Position Requirements
Schedule: Core business hours are Monday to Friday, between 9:30-3:00pm. Specific work schedule and expected hours of work will be discussed. Some weekend and evening work may be required and will be dependent on projects and customer requirements.

The reference Total Target Compensation(TTC) market range for this position, inclusive of annual base salary and the variable compensation target, is between
Total Target Cash (TTC) 77,212.50 - 128,725.00 CAD Annual
