Job Summary

The Forest Program in DRC and Cameroon is seeking two academic or professional interns to support its work on community-managed forests in the Congo Basin. Their primary role will be to assist with socio-economic research and analysis, while also contributing to broader programmatic initiatives such as "Foundations for a New Generation of Community Forestry in the Congo Basin" and "Community-Driven Forest Economies."

Must Have

  • Support documentary research, data collection, and socio-economic analysis on community-managed forests in Cameroon and DRC.
  • Support the development of a lexicon of community-driven forest economy types in the Congo Basin, particularly in Cameroon, DRC, Republic of Congo, and Gabon.
  • Help compile illustrative case studies of good practices and innovations in community forest management in the Congo Basin.
  • Help review challenges and success factors related to the establishment and implementation of community-led forest management.
  • Support the organization of activities during the internship period.
  • Master's degree or equivalent in social sciences, anthropology, or related fields.
  • One or two experiences in collecting, analyzing, and reporting socio-economic data in the forestry or sustainable development field.
  • Good knowledge of the forestry sector in the Congo Basin.

Good to Have

  • Good knowledge of MS Office tools, especially Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

About the Internship

Key Responsibilities of Interns

Main Expected Deliverable

  • One (01) report including lessons learned and innovation proposals in the activities where the intern contributed to the implementation.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree or equivalent in social sciences, anthropology, or related fields.
  • One or two experiences in collecting, analyzing, and reporting socio-economic data in the forestry or sustainable development field.
  • Good knowledge of the forestry sector in the Congo Basin.
  • Good knowledge of MS Office tools, especially Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Compensation:

This is a full-time, three-month internship with flexible start and end dates. The compensation for this internship is $200 per month.

Number of Positions:

2 positions. 01 intern for Cameroon and 01 intern for DRC, local offer.

Duration and Internship Locations:

3 months from December 1, 2025, to February 27, 2026, at WRI offices in Kinshasa and Yaoundé.
