The Workshop is seeking a Junior Big Data Engineer to join their dynamic team, focusing on the design, development, implementation, and support of a cutting-edge real-time data platform. This role involves stream processing, data lake management, and analytical database work, handling millions of events daily. The ideal candidate will have a software development background, good knowledge of relational databases, and a passion for data processing at scale, contributing to system efficiency and collaborating with team members.

Must Have

  • At least 2 years of experience developing with backend programming in Java or Scala
  • Experience with frameworks such as Spring
  • Experience writing clean code and with good testing practices (unit/component/end-to-end testing)
  • Experience with complex SQL queries
  • Enjoy collaboration and communicating in an open and honest way
  • Like to solve complex problems

The Role

  • The Workshop is currently looking for a Junior Big Data Engineer to join our dynamic team in Málaga. The ideal candidate has a software development background and good knowledge of querying data in relational databases.
  • The role involves the design, development, implementation and support of a cutting-edge real-time data platform, which includes stream processing, a data lake, and a blazing fast analytical database.
  • We are looking for someone that is passionate, motivated and, most important, willing to get his/her hands dirty in the vast world of data processing at scale.

What you'll do

  • Design, develop and support the real-time data platform processing millions of events per day.
  • Conceptualize, evaluate and build proof of concepts of new models, tools and techniques.
  • Collaborate and share expertise with other team members.
  • Enforce code quality by applying internal testing processes and peer-to-peer reviews.
  • Performance tuning of the system by working on new ways to increase efficiency.

What you'll bring
