At Bonial, we are shaping tomorrow's digital retail communication – and our Legal Team ensures it stands on a secure legal foundation.

As a Junior Legal Counsel – with a focus on new technologies – AI / Legal Tech, Data Protection Law & Compliance, you will be part of our small Legal Team in Berlin. You will not only be an advisor but also a shaper – with a focus on data protection, compliance, and innovative technologies like Artificial Intelligence. You will work closely with our teams in Berlin and Paris and take responsibility for diverse, future-oriented topics.

Your Responsibilities – diverse and forward-looking:

New Technologies & Legal Innovation

• Support in the introduction and legal evaluation of AI-powered tools and Legal Tech applications – both internally and for our business models
• Promoting a technology-open, pragmatic understanding of law within the company

Data Protection & Compliance

• Legal advice on all matters of data protection law
• Management and further development of our data protection management system
• Support for data protection projects, especially in the context of digitalization and AI
• Conducting training, awareness measures, and data protection audits
• Processing data breaches and data subject requests
• Reviewing new business models, tools, and software from a data protection perspective
• Maintenance and documentation in the record of processing activities

Compliance & Internal Policies

• Participation in compliance initiatives
• Development and implementation of legally sound structures and internal policies – also with regard to new legal requirements (e.g., AI governance)

Contract & Commercial Law

• Support in matters of general commercial law, especially in the areas of marketing, sales, and IT law
• Review, drafting, and negotiation of contracts, especially IT and service contracts

Job Requirements

Your Profile – what you bring:

• Legal education (e.g., first state examination or Master of Laws); additional qualifications in IT law or data protection (e.g., specialist lawyer course, certificates) are an advantage
• Initial practical experience in data protection law, IT law, or contract law – ideally in a digital corporate environment
• Alternatively: Motivation and willingness to quickly and thoroughly familiarize yourself with new legal areas
• Strong interest in digital business models, technologies, and especially Artificial Intelligence
• Structured, pragmatic, and solution-oriented way of working with a hands-on mentality
• Enjoyment of teamwork, personal responsibility, and clear communication
• Very good German and English skills
