Laboratory Technician, Research Operations

Lila Sciences is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Laboratory Technician to join its high-throughput Research Operations team in Cambridge, MA. This role involves operating automated liquid handling systems and other laboratory automation platforms to execute large-scale workflows. The technician will prepare reagents, samples, and consumables, follow detailed SOPs, monitor workflow performance, troubleshoot issues, and maintain experimental data. This position offers hands-on experience with state-of-the-art automation technologies and contributes directly to the company's growth in life, chemistry, and materials science.

Must Have

• Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Biotechnology, Bioengineering, or related field (or equivalent laboratory experience)
• Ability to operate and maintain automated liquid handling systems
• Ability to prepare reagents, samples, and consumables
• Ability to follow detailed standard operating procedures (SOPs)
• Ability to monitor workflow performance and troubleshoot common issues
• Ability to record, organize, and maintain experimental data

Good to Have

• Prior laboratory experience (academic or industry) with pipetting, molecular biology techniques, microbiology or physical/materials science
• Strong attention to detail

What You'll Be Building

• Operate and maintain automated liquid handling systems (e.g., Hamilton, Lynx, Echo, or similar) to run high-throughput workflows.
• Prepare reagents, samples, and consumables for automated and manual experiments.
• Follow detailed standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure accuracy, reproducibility, and throughput.
• Monitor workflow performance, troubleshoot common issues, and escalate when necessary.
• Record, organize, and maintain experimental data with high attention to detail.
• Contribute to continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to streamline processes.
• Collaborate with scientists and engineers to support diverse projects across life sciences and physical sciences.

Compensation

We expect the base salary for this role to fall between $52,000–$65,333 USD per year, along with bonus potential and generous early equity. The final offer will reflect your unique background, expertise, and impact.
