Lead Backend Engineer(.Net)

Aeries Technology is expanding its Software Engineering team, seeking a Lead Backend Engineer for a hybrid role in Hyderabad. This position involves working on high-impact greenfield products for global sports brands, building modern, scalable software from the ground up. The role requires solving complex problems with elegant solutions, advocating for developer experience, and providing technical leadership. Responsibilities include designing architecture, setting up development frameworks, and mentoring engineers, contributing to best-in-class products in sports technology.

Must Have

• Advocate for developer experience and continuous improvement.
• Encourage a blameless culture of continuous improvement and technical excellence.
• Lead and influence technical design, architecture, and development of digital projects.
• Work closely with Engineering Managers, Leads, and Product Managers to define technical scope.
• Set up software development frameworks for release management, automation, code quality, and source control.
• Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and guidance to other engineers.
• Stay updated on emerging technologies and trends in sports technology.
• Write clean, reusable code following best practices and defining coding standards.
• Minimum 5+ years’ experience in software engineering.
• Solid understanding of JavaScript and TypeScript fundamentals, with Node.js experience.
• Strong understanding of database systems (MongoDB, MySQL, PostgreSQL).
• Familiarity with software architecture principles and common design patterns.
• Appreciation of DevOps and platform engineering culture.
• Proactive in solving problems simply and effectively.

• A degree in Computer Science or equivalent.

Keeping up to date on emerging technologies and trends in sports technology.

Presence in our London office for 2 days a week is encouraged for this role and occasional travel to other offices in London and EMEA will be required at times

Requirements

• A minimum of 5+ years’ experience in software engineering.
• A strong desire to continually learn and improve.
• Solid understanding of JavaScript and TypeScript fundamentals, with hands-on experience using Node.js.
• Strong understanding of database systems, including both document-oriented databases such as MongoDB and relational databases such as MySQL or PostgreSQL.
• An understanding or interest in at least one JavaScript framework such as React, Angular or Vue.js.
• Familiarity with software architecture principles and common design patterns, particularly in building scalable systems.
• An appreciation of DevOps and platform engineering culture. You don’t just want to write code, you'd like to learn how to build and ship it as well.
• Proactive in solving problems simply and effectively, with an eye for pragmatic solutions.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate to a variety of audiences to explain your solutions and collaborate effectively with others.
