Lead Systems Engineer

Who We're Looking For

This role focuses on supporting the design, implementation, and operational aspects of SDDC initiatives at Syniverse. The Intermediate-Advanced Systems Engineer contributes to the deployment of products and systems, aligning with the Digital Transformation Initiative.

Scope of the Role:

• Direct Reports: This is an an individual contributor role with no direct reports

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with senior engineers to understand technical requirements and infrastructure architecture.
• Assist in process and code improvements to enhance the automation platform.
• Manage trouble-tickets and coordinate with vendor support organizations.
• Participate in troubleshooting sessions with infrastructure and application development teams.
• Contribute to RCA meetings and assist in generating RCA documents.
• Support the creation of KPI dashboards.
• Provide technical assistance for server, storage, and virtualization system upgrades and changes.
• Monitor server, storage, and virtualization environments to ensure stable performance.
• Maintain technical documentation and follow Syniverse change control policies.
• Participate in on-call rotations for off-hours escalations

Experience, Education, and Certifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
• 5-8 years of experience with Linux/Unix systems administration (Redhat Certification preferred)
• Virtualization concepts (VMWare).
• Familiarity with scripting languages such as Shell Scripting (Bash, KSH).
• Automation using Ansible scripting.
• Experience working with containers (Kubernetes).

Additional Requirements:

• Understanding of L2/L3 networking protocols and network design.
• Experience with Vendor Management & Hardware Replacements.
• Experience with infrastructure automation and scripting.
• Knowledge of automated workflows and blueprints.
• Familiarity with RDBMS platforms and basic SQL operations.
• Understanding of IAM concepts (AD/LDAP/OIM/MFA).
• Exposure to DevOps tools like Ansible Tower/AWX, Puppet, and Jenkins.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a team environment.
• Good communication skills (verbal and written).
