Job Summary

The Lucasfilm Publicity team promotes upcoming franchise projects and company news, cultivating strong relationships with filmmakers, talent, press, and partners. This internship offers an undergraduate student the opportunity to support the legendary Lucasfilm franchise, gaining first-hand knowledge of public relations strategy. Responsibilities include organizing PR files, daily press tracking, assisting with planning and execution of publicity events (e.g., junkets, D23), coordinating toolkits and talent handling, assisting with presentations, responding to fan mail, and potentially traveling for meetings and events.

Must Have

  • Currently enrolled as a Junior or Senior, pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Media, or related degree
  • Enrolled in an accredited college/university pursuing a degree taking at least one class OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Internship
  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Possess unrestricted work authorization
  • Be able to have a consistent, reliable work schedule throughout the internship
  • Be fully available to work during standard business hours, as well as flexibility to work some evening/weekend events as needed
  • Provide own housing and reliable transportation during the internship in the Burbank, CA area

  • Interest and awareness of current entertainment news
  • Passion for the Star Wars franchise and Lucasfilm legacy

About the Role & Program

The Publicity team at Lucasfilm is responsible for promoting upcoming franchise projects and company news both externally and internally. Made up of a team of experienced publicists, communications professionals and writers, we are responsible for developing the news coming out of Lucasfilm and our legendary franchise, as well as cultivating strong relationships with filmmakers, talent, press, influencers and key partners.

The Lucasfilm Publicity department currently has an exciting opportunity for an undergraduate student to work as an intern this summer supporting the legendary Lucasfilm franchise! If selected you would gain first-hand knowledge of what it takes to successfully communicate and promote upcoming projects and our overall public relations strategy – both internally and externally.

The dates of this full-time and in-person internship are May 4th-August 28th 2026 in Burbank, CA.

What You Will Do

On any give day, you might:

  • Organize PR files on past and present productions, both physical and digital
  • Participate in daily press tracking and reporting
  • Assist with planning and execution of franchise and publicity events (e.g. junkets, D23, etc.)
  • Help coordinate, toolkits & talent-handling for upcoming projects and press events
  • Become acquainted with Lucasfilm’s location and history to help with tours for outside guests and VIPs
  • Assist with presentation prep on PowerPoint, Keynote, and/or Google Slides
  • Respond to fan mail and assist with mailing fan packages; organize and maintain storage/swag rooms
  • Travel to domestic locations for meeting and events

Required Qualifications and Skills

Please apply if you have:

  • Previous experience and or coursework in public relations or communications
  • Comfort and confidence in communicating professionally via phone and email
  • Proficiency in Google G Suite, Mac Keynote and database management
  • Strong time management skills and the proven ability to multitask and prioritize
  • Experience working both autonomously and in team settings with a positive, proactive demeanor

Education

Currently enrolled as a Junior or Senior, pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Media, or related degree

Eligibility Requirements & Program Information

Candidates for this opportunity MUST meet all of the below requirements:

  • Be enrolled in an accredited college/university pursuing a degree taking at least one class at time of application OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Internship. Current Disney Interns, College, International, or Culinary Program Participants: You may only work for ONE consecutive year (12 months) in any combination of an internship and/or program.
  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Possess unrestricted work authorization

Additional Information

  • Must be able to have a consistent, reliable work schedule throughout the internship
  • This internship starts earlier than most Summer Internships, due to events that are part of the scope of this position. Please be available to start full-time and in-person May 4th, 2026.
  • Must be fully available between to work during standard business hours, as well as flexibility to work some evening/weekend events as needed
  • Must provide own housing and reliable transportation during the internship in the Burbank, CA area

The pay rate for this role in Burbank, California is $22.50 per hour.
