Job Description

The Maintenance Technician I performs routine preventive maintenance, basic troubleshooting, and assists with repairs of manufacturing equipment, building systems, and support utilities. This role involves scheduled PMs on CNC equipment, press brakes, lasers, weld cells, saws, air compressors, and HVAC systems. Responsibilities also include conducting basic troubleshooting on mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems, replacing wear items, assisting with machine setups, and maintaining accurate logs. The technician supports facility maintenance, ensures 5S standards, and collaborates with production to minimize downtime.
Good To Have:
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing or machining environment.
  • Basic understanding of CNC controls (e.g., FANUC, Haas).
  • Vocational or technical training in maintenance, mechatronics, or related field.
Must Have:
  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on manufacturing equipment and building systems.
  • Conduct basic troubleshooting on mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems.
  • Replace wear items and perform minor repairs.
  • Assist with machine setups, relocations, and equipment installations.
  • Maintain accurate PM logs, work orders, and part usage.
  • Support facility maintenance including lighting, plumbing, and HVAC filters.
  • Maintain 5S standards and safe work practices.
  • Identify and repair pneumatic, hydraulic, nitrogen, and plumbing issues.
  • Safely drive a forklift with light loads at ground level.
  • Communicate equipment issues and improvement suggestions.
  • Collaborate with production to minimize downtime.
  • 1+ years of experience in an industrial or manufacturing maintenance environment.
  • Ability to use all types of gauges.
  • Familiarity with PLC-based controller/interface machinery.

Position Summary

The Maintenance Technician I role performs routine preventive maintenance, basic troubleshooting, and assists with repairs of manufacturing equipment, building systems, and support utilities. This role focuses on learning and applying core maintenance practices under guidance from a senior technician.

Position Responsibilities

  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance (PMs) on CNC equipment, press brakes, lasers, weld cells, saws, air compressors, and HVAC systems.
  • Conduct basic troubleshooting on mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems.
  • Replace wear items (belts, filters, hoses, bearings) and perform minor repairs.
  • Assist with machine setups, relocations, and equipment installations.
  • Maintain accurate PM logs, work orders, and part usage in maintenance system.
  • Support facility maintenance: lighting, plumbing, building repairs, HVAC filters.
  • Maintain 5S standards and safe work practices.
  • Identify and repair pneumatic / hydraulic / nitrogen issues / plumbing issues.
  • Safely driving a forklift with light loads at ground level.
  • Communicate equipment issues and improvement suggestions to the maintenance lead.
  • Collaborate with production to minimize downtime and support continuous improvement.

Specific Knowledge, Skills or Abilities Required

  • Able to use all types of gauges – pressure, calipers, depth, etc.
  • Familiar with PLC–based controller/interface machinery.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet demanding deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as a team member to accomplish objectives.

Position Qualifications

Education:

HS graduate or equivalent

Experience:

1+ years machining experience, trade school or equivalent.

Previous experience in a manufacturing or machining environment preferred but not required.

Basic understanding of CNC controls (e.g., FANUC, Haas) is a plus.

  • 1+ years of experience in an industrial or manufacturing maintenance environment
  • Ability to read mechanical drawings and simple electrical schematics
  • Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, and test instruments
  • Basic understanding of safety standards, lockout/tagout, and machine guarding
  • Vocational or technical training in maintenance, mechatronics, or related field preferred

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

  • Tolerance for working in environments with exposure to noise, lubricants, metal particles, and varying temperatures.
  • Ability to wear and properly use required personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, gloves, steel-toed boots, and hearing protection.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. regularly
  • Frequent use of hands and fingers to handle, control, or feel tools and machine parts.
  • Reaching with arms and hands above shoulder height and below the waist.
  • Requires walking, standing, bending and lifting for long periods of time (up to 8-12 hours per shift)
  • Visual acuity to read blueprints, inspect parts, and operate machinery safely.
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to handle small parts and operate precision tools.
