Job Summary
As a Manager-Controller in Control and Compliance at American Express, you will lead audit engagements, design robust governance frameworks, and drive continuous improvement in internal controls. Your role involves proactive issue management, comprehensive risk assessment, and ensuring compliance with RCSA framework and change management policies. You will also support business growth by managing risk assessments for new products and foster a risk-aware culture through tailored training programs, while leading enterprise-wide initiatives.
Must Have
- C.A. with at least 8+ years of experience or Graduate with at least 7+ years work experience
- Experience in operational risk management (Risk and/or Internal Audit function)
- Understanding of RCSA and other critical operational risk management lifecycle activities
- Strong project management skills
- Strong communication skills
- Experience in process governance
- Proficient analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong operations and risk management skills
Good to Have
- Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and evaluate risk scenarios effectively
- Excellent relationship management abilities with skill to impact and influence at all levels

How will you make an impact in this role?
- Enhancing the Control Environment: Leading audit engagements and designing robust governance frameworks, driving continuous improvement in internal controls and audit preparedness, providing valuable insights to leadership.
- Proactive Issue Management: Early detection and rapid resolution of risks and issues minimizing financial impact and support operational resilience through effective process and control design.
- Comprehensive Risk Assessment: Lead compliance with RCSA framework including thorough documentation of risks and controls wnsuring that all processes are well-governed and compliant with enterprise standards.
- Supporting Business Growth and Change: Managing risk assessments for new products and capabilities, and ensuring compliance with change management policies, the role enables sustainable business growth and operational excellence.
- Driving Compliance and Collaboration: Effective engagement with central control and compliance teams to ensure successful execution of compliance guidelines and related projects.
- Building a Risk-Aware Culture: Delivering tailored training and awareness programs to foster a culture where regulatory and operational risk management is embedded in daily activities.
- Leading Enterprise Initiatives: Proactive leadership in organization-wide initiatives to enhance the control environment and aligns with compliance governance frameworks.
Minimum Qualifications
- C.A with at least 8 plus years of experience or Graduate with at least 7+ years work experience.
- Experience in operational risk management (e.g., within Risk and/or Internal Audit function) Understanding of RCSA and other critical operational risk management lifecycle activities
- Strong project management, communication, and interpersonal skills
- • Ability to think innovatively and to pursue ideas with conviction.
- • The Incumbent should be Assertive, should be able to influence & corroborate without direct authority.
- • A self-starter with ability to operate under ambiguous circumstances
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in process governance, with an understanding of processes that align with policies, regulatory frameworks and/or operational standards
- Proficient analytical and problem-solving skills, with an ability to analyze data, identify trends, and evaluate risk scenarios effectively
