Job Summary

The Financial Analyst role in the Card & Merchant Accounting and Controls (CMAC) team at American Express is responsible for managing end-to-end accounting, research, and clearance processes for LAC Remittance Payments. This includes governance of Balance sheet accounts, ensuring timely and accurate processing, and maintaining financial integrity through reporting and trend analysis. The incumbent will also participate in standardization and continuous improvement initiatives, working closely with business partners to clear financial transactions, drive efficiency, and mitigate risks.

Must Have

  • B. Com with 2-4 years or CA/MBA/Post Graduate with 0-2 years of work experience
  • Good knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint, AR/ AP platforms (MNS, Genesis, Triumph, Globestar, CARS, ACRE, etc.) and other data applications like Cornerstone, BI tools
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Managing E2E accounting and research and clearance processes for LAC Remittance Payments
  • Governance of Balance sheet accounts (specifically Bank and suspense accounts ensuring all accounting (upstream system/manual) is processed timely and accurately)
  • Maintain financial integrity through timely reporting of process metrics, inputs related to trending variances, static and unnatural balances, customer queries and status of process improvement
  • Work closely with business partners (Servicing teams within GPS & CFN) to clear the daily/monthly financial transactions, drive process efficiency and proactively highlight any exposure
  • Be able to proactively highlight, communicate and mitigate risks
  • Monitor the trending of the Balance Sheet accounts managed and work with different stakeholders to identify and fix the RCA
  • Ensure compliance with prevailing policies and procedures besides contractual and regulatory requirements as applicable

Function Description

  • Card & Merchant Accounting and Controls (CMAC) team in Global Financial Operations, Controllership, manages the foundational accounting for Card Member spend, Remittances and Merchant payments along with various other operational accounting processes that is core to a Credit Card domain.
  • This team is the last line of defense and liaisons with broader controllership, technology / product, and Global Service Group (GSG) / servicing teams to ensure correct Card Member allocations and financial integrity is embedded in the end-to-end process.

How will you make an impact in this role?

This B28 role will be primarily responsible for managing E2E accounting and research and clearance processes for LAC Remittance Payments, Governance of Balance sheet accounts (specifically Bank and suspense accounts ensuring all accounting (upstream system/manual) is processed timely and accurately. The incumbent will also be responsible to maintain financial integrity through timely reporting of process metrics, inputs related to trending variances, static and unnatural balances, customer queries and status of process improvement driven by upstream/downstream automation and improvements.

·       This position shall be responsible for accounting & reconciliation (research and clearance) of LAC region Remittance Ledgers

·       The incumbent in expected to have fair knowledge about Chargeback, Remittance and SE related processes/accounts

  • The incumbent will be expected to quickly gain detailed understanding of end to end accounting, inputs, processes, controls, process flows, metrics, risks, SLAs and output of the process

·       The incumbent will be required to participate in standardization and continuous improvement initiatives as well as other business partner initiatives.

  • Work closely with business partners (Servicing teams within GPS & CFN) to clear the daily/monthly financial transactions, drive process efficiency and proactively highlight any exposure
  • Be able to proactively highlight, communicate and mitigate risks.
  • Monitor the trending of the Balance Sheet accounts managed and work with different stakeholders to identify and fix the RCA
  • Effectively coordinate with technology for development / automation opportunities
  • Ensure compliance with prevailing policies and procedures besides contractual and regulatory requirements as applicable

Minimum Qualifications

  • B. Com with 2-4 years or CA/MBA/Post Graduate with 0-2 years of work experience
