Job Summary
Groupon’s Commercial Finance & Strategy team is seeking a Marketing Research Analyst to align marketing plans with real-world market trends, inventory, and performance. This role involves building SQL-powered reports, analyzing funnel performance, identifying marketplace trends, and translating insights into actionable strategies. The analyst will partner with various teams to shape quarterly and annual plans, connecting marketing investment to business outcomes, and optimizing processes.
Must Have
- Align marketing campaign calendars with market and merchant readiness.
- Develop and maintain SQL-powered reporting for campaign and supply health.
- Analyze funnel performance and marketplace trends to uncover actionable insights.
- Translate marketing trends, attribution changes, and platform updates into experiments.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to share insights and align priorities.
- Contribute to quarterly and annual plans by sizing opportunities and setting KPIs.
- Identify and implement solutions for process bottlenecks and automation.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in marketing analytics, growth, or marketplace operations.
- Proficiency in marketing metrics like CAC, CPC, ROAS, CVR, AOV, retention, selection coverage.
- Strong SQL skills for querying large datasets and delivering clean data.
- Proficient in Excel and Google Sheets.
- Familiarity with analytics and tracking tools such as GA/GA4, ad platforms, UTMs, MMPs, and GMP.
- Clear communication skills to translate deep analysis into simple stories.
- Fluent in English (spoken and written).
Good to Have
- Experience with data visualization tools (Tableau, Looker, Data Studio).
- Salesforce experience.
- Passion for AI or curiosity to explore its role in elevating work.

Groupon’s Commercial Finance & Strategy team is looking for a curious, data-loving, marketing-savvy human to join us at the intersection of Marketing, Supply, and Market Operations. In this role, you’ll make sure our marketing plans actually match what’s happening in the real world—what’s in stock, what’s trending, what’s performing—and help connect customers with the right offers at the right time.

What you’ll do
- Be the go-to supply partner for Marketing and Market Managers—align campaign calendars with what audiences want, what merchants are ready for, and what’s happening in each market 📅
- Build and maintain SQL-powered reporting that keeps a pulse on campaign and supply health (selection depth, competitiveness, content quality, ROAS, CAC, AOV… all the greatest hits) 📊
- Dig into funnel performance and marketplace trends to uncover patterns, spot gaps, and turn “hmm interesting…” into “here’s exactly what we should do next” 🔍
- Keep up with marketing trends, attribution changes, platform updates, and AI workflows—and translate them into experiments, playbooks, and better ways of working 🤖
- Partner with Market Managers, Channel teams, Ops, Product, CRM, and Finance to share insights, align priorities, and bring cross-functional magic to life ✨
- Help shape quarterly and annual plans by sizing opportunities, setting KPIs, and connecting marketing investment to business outcomes 📈
- Hunt down process bottlenecks and automation opportunities—then help build the solutions that remove them ⚡
About you
- 3+ years in marketing analytics, growth, marketplace ops, or a similar analytical role
- You speak fluent marketing metrics—CAC, CPC, ROAS, CVR, AOV, retention, selection coverage, and more 📊
- SQL is a must: you’re comfortable querying large datasets, joining tables, using window functions, and delivering clean, trustworthy data
- Strong Excel/Sheets skills; visualization tools (Tableau, Looker, Data Studio) are a bonus
- Familiar with analytics and tracking tools like GA/GA4, ad platforms, UTMs, MMPs, and GMP. Salesforce experience is a plus
- Naturally curious, detail-oriented, and always looking for smarter, faster, more automated ways to get things done 🤓
- A clear communicator who can turn deep analysis into simple stories and actionable next steps
- A team player who’s just as comfortable working solo on a problem as collaborating across teams 🤝
