Job Summary

This role is for a New Grad Professional in Information Technology at Western Digital, focusing on driving Smart Factory initiatives, implementing IoT technologies, and supporting IT modernization. Responsibilities include providing Level 2 technical support for manufacturing systems, ensuring IT compliance and security operations, managing SLAs, and assisting with IT budgeting. The position requires a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related fields and skills in servers, storage, networks, scripting (Python), and IT security.

Must Have

  • Drive Smart Factory initiatives and support the implementation of IoT technologies.
  • Contribute to IT modernization efforts and process-simplification projects.
  • Partner with cross-functional IT teams to deliver robust infrastructure, storage, network, and server solutions.
  • Provide Level 2 technical support for manufacturing systems and critical applications.
  • Maintain IT compliance by adhering to regulatory standards, internal policies, and audit requirements.
  • Oversee IT security operations, including patch management, endpoint protection, and vulnerability remediation.
  • Strengthen IT Service-Level Agreements (SLAs) and manage high-priority incidents.
  • Help manage IT budgeting and cost-optimization activities.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Software Engineering, IoT System and Information Engineering, Information and Communication Technology, or related fields in IT cyber security.
  • Basic understanding of servers, storage, networks, backup systems, and cloud concepts.
  • Awareness of IoT devices, smart wearables, and manufacturing automation technologies.
  • Experience with Python or other scripting languages and web applications.
  • Basic knowledge of IT security, patch management, and compliance requirements.
  • Ability to provide Level 2 technical support and troubleshoot technical issues.
  • Basic understanding of Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) processes and service-management principles.
  • Strong analytical thinking, teamwork and problem-solving skills.
  • Good communication and collaboration skills for working with IT and manufacturing teams.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and collaboration tools (e.g., Teams, SharePoint).
  • Demonstrated curiosity, learning agility, and attention to detail.
  • Good English communication skills, verbal and written.

Good to Have

  • Internship or project experience in IT systems, networking, IoT, IT innovation or emerging technologies (AI, 5IR) is preferred.

Job Description

Responsibility:

  • Contribute to IT modernization efforts and process-simplification projects to improve system performance and operational reliability.
  • Partner with cross-functional IT teams to deliver robust infrastructure, storage, network, and server solutions aligned with manufacturing requirements.
  • Provide Level 2 technical support for manufacturing systems and critical applications, ensuring timely issue resolution.
  • Maintain IT compliance by adhering to regulatory standards, internal policies, and audit requirements.
  • Oversee IT security operations, including patch management, endpoint protection, and vulnerability remediation.
  • Strengthen IT Service-Level Agreements (SLAs), manage high-priority incidents, and continuously enhance end-user experience.
  • Help manage IT budgeting and cost-optimization activities, including procurement of hardware, software, and technology services to support operational needs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Software Engineering, IoT System and Information Engineering, Information and Communication Technology, or related fields in IT cyber security

Skills:
