Job Summary
The Production Assistant is responsible for various television production duties for live and recorded broadcasts. This includes composing and framing camera shots, adjusting camera settings, operating studio and remote cameras, running audio, operating teleprompter, editing video, and producing graphics for newscasts. The role requires excellent communication skills, proficiency with office equipment, and the ability to manage multiple tasks under deadlines, often involving a flexible schedule.
Must Have
- Compose and frame camera shots, applying technical aspects of light, lenses, and camera settings.
- Adjust positions and controls of cameras to change focus, exposure, and lighting.
- Operate studio cameras during live broadcasts.
- Operate remote cameras during live broadcasts.
- Confer with directors and other crew members on sequences, effects, camera movements, and lighting.
- Set up cameras and related equipment.
- Run audio for newscasts.
- Operate teleprompter for newscasts.
- Edit video.
- Produce graphics and operate graphic equipment for newscast.
- Maintain cleanliness of the studio.
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
- Proficiency with computers, telephones, copiers, scanners, fax machines, and other office equipment.
- Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments, and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Flexible schedule required (nights, early mornings, weekends, shift work possible).
- Ability to stand for a couple of hours at a time.

- Confers with directors and other crew members to discuss sequences, desired effects, camera movements, and lighting requirements
- Sets up cameras and related equipment
- Runs audio for newscasts
- Operates teleprompter for newscasts
- Edits video
- Produces graphics and operates graphic equipment for newscast
- Maintains the cleanliness of the studio
- Performs other duties as assigned
Requirements & Skills:
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
