The Payroll Officer will manage end-to-end payroll processing for 400+ employees across two Australian states. Responsibilities include accurate and timely payroll processing, maintaining records, handling employee queries, preparing reports, collaborating with HR, assisting with month-end reconciliations, and managing accounts payable for contractors. The role requires strong attention to detail, organizational skills, proficiency in payroll software, and excellent communication. Occasional accounts payable tasks will broaden the skillset. Your Role with Us
In this end-to-end payroll support role, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our payroll processes. You will work directly with the Payroll Manager to process fortnightly payroll for 400+ staff working across two states within Australia. You will work closely with the HR and finance team where you’ll play a crucial part in ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of payroll for our employees, while also managing accounts payable activities.

What you will do: 

Payroll Officer Duties (80%)

- Process payroll for all employees accurately and on time, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and internal policies.
- Maintain payroll records and ensure all data is accurate and up-to-date.
- Handle payroll queries from employees and ensure all queries are actioned promptly, providing the highest level of customer service.
- Prepare and submit payroll-related reports and documentation as required.
- Collaborate with HR to ensure accurate and timely communication of payroll changes (e.g., new hires, terminations, salary adjustments).
- Assist with special HR & Payroll projects from time to time
- Assist with month end reconciliations

Accounts Payable Duties (20%)

- Process and manage contractor invoices, ensuring accuracy and timely payment.
- Reconcile vendor accounts and resolve discrepancies.
- Maintain relationships with both internal and external stakeholders and handle queries regarding contractor payments.

What you will bring:

Essential experience

- 3 to 4 years experience in payroll processing and accounts payable.
- Impeccable attention to detail and accuracy in payroll and financial transactions.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Proficient in using payroll software and financial management systems.
- Good communication skills and the ability to handle queries effectively.
- Intermediate Excel skills (including pivot tables and look up functions)

Bonus points if you also have:

  • Knowledge of relevant payroll and accounting regulations.
  • Experience with Netsuite would be a bonus.
  • Basic understanding of general accounting principles.
  • Sports & Gambling knowledge advantageous
  • Cryptocurrency knowledge would be advantageous
