Job Summary

Onsemi is seeking a Senior Power Electronics Systems Engineer for their Piestany, Slovakia center. The role involves designing highly efficient power converters (AC/DC and DC/DC) up to 300kW, creating and analyzing electronic circuit simulations using tools like PSPICE, MATLAB, or PLECS, and designing PCBs with Altium Designer. The engineer will also perform system integration, conduct testing and debugging in a power laboratory, and collaborate on firmware debugging. This position supports the corporate design-in success of onsemi products.

Must Have

  • Design highly efficient power converters (AC/DC and DC/DC) up to 300kW.
  • Create and analyze electronic circuit simulations using tools such as PSPICE, MATLAB or PLECS.
  • Create schematics and design PCBs (preferably using Altium Designer).
  • Perform calculations for digital and analog circuits.
  • Select electronic components to meet specific project requirements.
  • Perform system integration, mechatronics.
  • Produce technical documentation.
  • Conduct testing, debugging, and measurements in the newly established power laboratory.
  • Collaborate with software engineers on firmware debugging.
  • BSc, MSc, or PhD. Degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Min 8 years of hands-on experience in power electronics.
  • Strong multidisciplinary knowledge in power electronics, analog and digital hardware design.
  • Systems integration experience (PCB, enclosure, interconnects).
  • In-depth knowledge and practical experience with power semiconductor devices (MOSFET, JFET, IGBT, BjT).
  • Proficiency in schematic interpretation, debugging electronic boards, and understanding associated mechanical and thermal design.
  • Knowledge of EMC/EMI design methodologies.
  • Familiar with laboratory equipment (e.g. oscilloscopes, power analyzers, etc.).
  • Proficient communication (verbal and written) in English.

Good to Have

  • Basic experience in programming (e.g. C/C++, Python, Arduino, etc.).
  • Knowledge of industrial standards and regulations.

Onsemi is looking for a Senior Power Electronics Systems Engineer to develop innovative systems solutions for our power conversion products (e.g. SiCs, IGBTs) at our Systems Engineering development center in Piestany, Slovakia.

You’ll support the overall corporate design-in success of onsemi products within newly established Systems Engineering Center.

What you’ll do:

  • Design highly efficient power converters (AC/DC and DC/DC) up to 300kW.
  • Create and analyze electronic circuit simulations using tools such as PSPICE, MATLAB or PLECS.
  • Create schematics and design PCBs (preferably using Altium Designer).
  • Perform calculations for digital and analog circuits.
  • Select electronic components to meet specific project requirements.
  • Performs system integration, mechatronics.
  • Produce technical documentation.
  • Conduct testing, debugging, and measurements in the newly established power laboratory (area 600m2).
  • Collaborate with software engineers on firmware debugging.

What we are looking for:

  • BSc, MSc, or PhD. Degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Min 8 years of hands-on experience in power electronics.
  • Strong multidisciplinary knowledge in power electronics, analog and digital hardware design.
  • Systems integration experience (PCB, enclosure, interconnects).
  • In-depth knowledge and practical experience with power semiconductor devices (MOSFET, JFET, IGBT, BjT).
